For over a year now I have been giving a bible study to those that attend our church and are in recovery.
Today I had 14, I know it is not thousands, but for a weekly bible study- I feel pretty blessed to have that many.
There is a woman sitting in the front row, that has such a transformation in her life, she is a different person literally than when she first started coming to our church and to our bible study.
She had a bad case of sleep apnea she would fall asleep and snore during my bible study. (some of you are probably thinking, that is not sleep apnea-it's you!)
But all joking aside, she had a genuine need for a C-pap breathing machine. Knowing that it would take over $1000 dollars to own a C-Pap she had little hope that she would ever own one. She looked continually depressed, but I did not know what was making her so despondent- until one time she snored so loudly in the bible study, one of the girls told her to go home and go to bed!
The next day, she came to me and apologized for snoring but that she could not help it, because she did not sleep well because of the sleep apnea and could not afford a breathing machine.
That created an awesome opportunity for God to demonstrate his power and how he answers prayer. I told her, price did not matter God could provide for her a C-pap, that we are going to agree in prayer and that God was going to answer her request.
Well the girls in the recovery house got in on it, and put her request on Craigslist, a few weeks later a man contacted them and this woman had a brand new C-pap and has been using it for the last few weeks.
She was bright, alert and participating today. She is a totally different person. She said she felt like life was passing her by, and now she is ready to enjoy life. Her smile said everything......and no snoring was nice too!

It was a foggy day in Hilmar, as I drove to the church which is down this street.
I didnt take another picture of my group today, sadly so I took one of the intersection! Ha!
Anyway, I spoke from Number 13:33. About not seeing your self as a grasshopper but seeing yourself the way God sees you. How important it is to believe the report of the Lord, and how it is a key to receiving our own personal promiseland.
For this group of people it would be a tremendous achievement to be off the streets and off drugs having their own apartment, keep a job- in away this is a type of promiseland for them.
I had to take my son with me today, he has gone with me several times when I am without daycare. He just sits silently, believe it or not, and plays with his toys until I am done.
I rewarded him with his favorite happy meal, this is a picture of him with his 'toy'.
Today I had some of those in my class get up and testify about the change in their lives.
You learn a lot about folks when they get up and talk about themselves, you even discover some potential talent.
I heard a lot of pain today too- mostly from family members. It all lead to a path of destruction. But God made away out for these folks, one said-" it was a matter of life and death and getting into a recovery program saved my life."
I was also glad to hear of one more person with a commitment to being baptized.
