Economy Getting Stronger
On a positive note, the average American 401k account is back at the balance it was right before the economy started to head south (approx 2yrs ago).
But you won't hear the Conservatives say anything good about the current upswing in the economy because it is a direct reflection of the 2 bail out decisions by Bush and Obama.

Re: Economy Getting Stronger
Or..... it is part of a natural fluctuation which would have come far sooner had it not been for the careless spending of Bush and Obama.

Ok dude, just discount all the warnings and warning signs that we were in serious economic trouble.
Even Warren Buffett praised the idea of this Administration spending counter-cyclic to the economy to help stop us from sinking into another Great Depression.
Anything to make sure the President doesn't get his props for doing at least one thing right so far.

Re: Economy Getting Stronger
Jermyn, regardless of who is president, they can't control market fluctuations. And this short term fix is costing way too much in the long run.
We are moving towards a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit. I tried to fathom how much money that is, and I can't even wrap my brain around it. You could spend $1,000,000 per hour for 1,200,000 hours, or 50,000 days, or approximately 131 years.
This is way outside of the scope the founding fathers envisioned when establishing the LIMITED powers of the federal government, indeed, believing that whatsoever powers were not enumerated in the constitution lay within state's powers.
Of course, for those who believe the constitution is a living document, always evolving into something different, the founding fathers were full of hooey.

Quick, thoughtful action to avoid another Great Depression addressed something so much more serious than "market fluctuations".
We really should not down play how serious of a situation our country was in.
Our economy is getting stronger, there is proof that supports this, and it was the wise actions of Bush and Obama that helped this to occur.
It is completely partisan to try to down play what oculd have happened and what's happening now.

Re: Economy Getting Stronger
There are those who believe that what is happening now is worse than what "could" have happened. There have been no solutions, just a prolonging of the inevitable, given the course BOTH parties have followed.

We are still in serious trouble. The dollar is being devalued. Unemployment is still high. The deficit is piling up. I hope the economy strengthens, but we are still in danger of a Second Great Depression. There is a commercial real estate bubble that could burst at anytime like the housing bubble. We are no where near the place we need to be.
A rise in the stock market does not a recovery make.

Sorry but I don't see much of an improvement when I think of this. Also tell it to the 200+ people our church feed this past weekend who are without jobs.
