The Young Ruler stood asked Jesus a question concerning what he would have to do to attain Eternal Life. Jesus told him to keep his commandments as given in the Law. The Man told him that he had kept all the Commandments from his youth. Then Jesus said to him, "You Lack ONE thing.. Sell Everything you have and distribute your earnings to the poor"
The Bible says the Young Man was sorrowful for he was rich... He was sad because of the one thing he possessed meant more to him than eternal life and he couldn't give it up..
He was free to hold on to it... but what freedom did he miss by not listening to the Master...
So many here seem to treasure "freedoms" and hold on to these things...claiming they are at liberty (or freedom) to possess... but can't let go of...
Again...
Is freedom defined by what you Possess or Practice or What you are willing to Let Go of?
Just a Thought.....

Bro. Danny Rivers used this in his preaching sunday.
How the young ruler claimed he had obeyed all the commandments since his youth.
Jesus looked at him, and pulled the very first commandment out. "Thou shalt not worship any other god."
Now go sell your goods. What! No way. Money, things were his god.
Jesus knows our hearts. We deceived ourselves.
