Famine???

My sister said at church last night her pastor said there is no prophecy given in the Word about a famine in the last days.

He referred to the scripture as in the days of Noah, there was eating and drinking and being merry.

He also referred to this scripture in Amos:

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

And I do agree there is definitely a famine of the Word even though people have more Bibles in their homes than ever before.

But what about these scriptures?

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong [is] the Lord God who judgeth her.

They are in the new testament also.

I think this was in regards to people prophecing that a famine is coming and he feels that can't be.

I also have to say, we believe we are in the endtime now and there is famine in the earth in different places.

We are blessed it isn't in America. But some believe America is fixing to experience it as well. I hope they are wrong.

But I was wondering although the scripture that says they were eating and drinking in the days of Noah, doesn't mean EVERYONE was, IMO. But as a society that was the norm.

So do you agree that there can be no famine in America?

Is there a scripture that says no more famine?

Although my flesh would love to believe he is right, I don't think that is true.

What is your opinion?

I know you are talking of just America but I look at it as North America.
Yes I believe Perilous times are here.

The US & Canadian recognize borders both between Provinces & States, and the international border between the US & Canada.
God just sees people!

In Canada we have God in numerous places in our Constitution, Anthem, and
Coat of Arms.
We ain't lining it though.

In the States, they have more references to God than any other country, but they ain't living it either.

Now if God who has given Canada & the Us so much blessings and opportunities to know him and to serve him doesn't bring our countries to Judgment (eventually) than he will have to apologize to Israel who was severely punished when they forsook God.

Our only hope is in the Church!

JMHO!

Revelation 6:6-8 tells us:

"And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny*, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

*A day's wage.

You know I was thinking that they had.

Was it what they called the "Dust bowl" time or are you thinking of the depression with the soup lines?

Not sure if that was a famine or just no money.

Folks, if the trucking industry shut down, in 3 days there would be no food available in the US, except those stored up by "survivalist" types.

If there were a massive crop failure or drought in the US, same thing.

I was reading just a few days ago, that the world food supply is actually too low to accomodate the growing demand. China has now become a major grain importer.

When your food is imported, it means you aren't making enough of your own.

We have wars for oil resources presently, soon there may be wars for food resources.

Which is strange, because there is no need for massive famine in this day. Food can be grown easily even independently of the weather due to greenhouse technologies.

When you factor in the pervading and spreading propagation of "genetically modified" food crop seeds, we have a MASSIVE disaster in the making... which is very convenient for those who wish to push for statist globalism.

From one "threat" to the next, the "solution" is ALWAYS more government regulation, control, and more dependence upon government "assistance". Funny how that works...

Get a manual grain miller, stock up on natural rice, wheat, corn, oats, beans, plant a garden, grow food crops, can can can all you can, learn to hunt and prepare game...

Otherwise, you may starve to death.

We survived the Great Depression and the "dustbowl" of the 30s... but only because most folks already lived the "survivalist lifestyle" as a matter of course. Strange how normal living is now considered "survivalist living"...
