Gun Rights under Fire again
Legislation Still Under the Radar Would Devastate U.S. Gun Ownership Rights
September 30, 2009 by Bob Livingston
And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.–President Barack Obama in San Francisco at a 2008 fundraiser.
While high profile issues like passage of a healthcare reform bill and cap and trade energy tax are getting front page headlines and top billing by television talking heads, be very wary of stealth legislation slowly working its way through Congress to restrict gun ownership.
Passage of either of two bills, HR 45 (also known as Blair-Holt Firearm Licensing and Record Sale Act of 2009) and S 1317, would be a devastating blow to Second Amendment rights.
HR 45, introduced by Rep. Bobby Rush, would make it illegal to own a gun unless you are fingerprinted and can provide a driver’s license and Social Security number.
Additionally under HR 45, a person buying a gun would have to undergo both a physical and mental evaluation before making a firearm purchase. It also would require guns be secured from access by children under age 18, and would empower law enforcement officers to come into your home to check compliance.
S 1317, introduced by Sen. Frank Lautenburg, would give the attorney general the right to block gun sales to people on terror watch lists. A third bill, HR 2647, contains a companion clause to S 1317 that gives the attorney general the authority to determine who belongs on terrorist watch lists.
And who are the terrorists? In Obamaworld it’s not the Islamo-fascists flying airliners into buildings, planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) or strapping bombs to their waists and setting them off in crowded areas.
No, because in Obamaworld, the word terrorism no longer applies to those who were once called terrorists. And those who used to be considered terrorists no longer commit acts of terrorism. No they commit man-caused disasters. The word terrorist, at least in its past usage, has been dropped from the lexicon.
Today’s terrorists, according to those now in power in the United States, are people in flyover country who believe the Constitution is sacrosanct, and that the Second Amendment actually means that people are free to own guns without restriction.
Our own country’s Department of Homeland Security issued an assessment earlier this year warning law enforcement of a possible rise in home-grown terrorism from “right wing extremists.” And who are those rightwing extremists? The assessment tell us: “Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”
And what does Eric Holder—attorney general for the United States and the person who would under S 1317 be granted the authority to determine who belongs on terrorist watch groups—think about guns?
Following are few of his quotes that have appeared in various newspapers over the last few years:
“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons.”
“The second amendment does not protect firearms possession or use that is unrelated to participation in a well-regulated militia.”
“To further strengthen the ability of law enforcement officials to track those suspected of terrorism or other criminal acts in this country, Congress should also pass legislation that would give the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms a record of every firearm sale.”
Some of Obama’s own quotes, as they have appeared in various publications, will back this up:
“I am consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing concealed carry.”
“I am not in favor of concealed weapons. I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”
“The package (legislation passed in the Illinois Senate) closes the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card loopholes which resulted in the shooting out in Melrose Park. We’re eliminating 17 specific assault weapons. There is no reason why anybody should need an assault weapon to protect themselves or their family. We’re limiting handgun sales to one a month. We’re calling for handgun registration. It’s very hard right now to track whether or not a felon has turned in his weapons or if he has a FOID card because we don’t know how many weapons he has purchased.”
Without a doubt, the current administration is the most anti-gun administration in our nation’s history. Don’t let the hullabaloo over healthcare and cap and trade cause you to let your guard down.
And be sure you cling to your guns and religion. They may soon be all you have.

Re: Gun Rights under Fire again
http://www.gundigest.com/article/ObamaExpose
I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama’s attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than Barack Obama.
Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture. While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens.
That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners and forcibly confiscate banned guns. Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer.
Obama also voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month.
Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner.
At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family.
And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger — a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators.
Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let’s not forget Obama’s pal George Soros — the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN’s international effort to disarm law-abiding
citizens.
Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people’s money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.
By now, I’m sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization called “American Hunters and Shooters Association(AHSA)” talking about what a swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns.
Let me make it perfectly clear — everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting and shooting.
That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive private reserves.

Re: Gun Rights under Fire again

Government Seeks to Grab Guns to Aid Mexico
It’s gotten so bad that Stratfor calls Mexico the kidnapping capitol of the world, and gangs are beginning to use something called a virtual kidnapping: calling people and telling them they have kidnapped a family member and collecting a ransom without actually having kidnapped anybody.
And it’s begun to spill across the border with reports of kidnappings for ransom or murder—usually illegal immigrants so far—occurring in Texas and Arizona.
So how does the administration of President Barack Obama respond? Attorney General Eric Holder called for a ban on so-called assault weapons. Holder said in a February news conference that such a ban would help cut down the flow of guns going across the border.
But the types of weapons that would be banned are not the type commonly being used by gangs and drug cartels. In their battles with police the criminals are employing fragmentation grenades, fully automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades. After a recent battle in which five cartel gunmen were killed and several more wounded, police even recovered a 60-mm mortar—all weapons that are unavailable to average citizens in the U.S. under existing laws.
Yet Holder believes that disarming Americans, as violent drug cartels battle along the border and kidnapping gangs sneak into America, is the right course of action.
And Holder and Obama aren’t the only ones trying to disarm U.S. citizens. Currently in Congress is H.R. 45 which will “prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked.”
In Albany, NY, lawmakers are considering legislation that would tightly regulate the sale of all ammunition. The new law would require anyone “buying rounds or shells, even .22s, would have to show identification, declare the gun and have its serial number registered with the ammo seller. The buyer would have to state his intent of use, and could be refused the purchase. The ammo seller, at the same time, would be required to keep records for 10 years.”
Never mind the Second Amendment, which guarantees that the right to keep and bear arms will not be infringed. Never mind the 10th Amendment, which restricts the U.S. Government from taking over powers not specifically enumerated by the Constitution.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious that those in Government who have taken an oath to defend the Constitution are more interested in shredding it to remove any obstacles to their seizing more and more power.

Re: Gun Rights under Fire again
FEMA Exercises Include Foreign Troops Practicing on U.S. Soil
This from FEMA’s own website: “This scenario enables participating senior officials to focus on issues related to preventing terrorist events domestically and protecting U.S. critical infrastructure… Exercises such as NLE 09 are an important component of national preparedness, helping to build an integrated federal, state, tribal, local and private sector capability to prevent terrorist attacks, and rapidly and effectively respond to, and recover from, any terrorist attack or major disaster that occurs. The full-scale exercise offers agencies and jurisdictions a way to test their plans and skills in a real-time, realistic environment and to gain the in-depth knowledge that only experience can provide. Participants will exercise prevention and information sharing functions that are critical to preventing terrorist attacks.”
But don’t forget that your government may consider you a terrorist as well. Do you believe in the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution? Terrorist. Do you believe in a limited government? Terrorist. Do you believe in state’s rights? Terrorist. Do you oppose abortion? Terrorist. Do you oppose illegal immigration? Terrorist. Former member of the military? Terrorist.
These descriptions are right out of a special assessment issued by the Department of Homeland Security entitled: Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.
And then there is this: Two bills pending in Congress sponsored by Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL). That’s the same Alcee Hastings who, while a judge, was impeached by a Democrat-controlled Congress 18 years ago by a vote of 413-3 for conspiring to accept bribes. The good citizens of Florida’s House District 23 then elected him to represent them the next year to a seat he still holds.
The two bills are HR 645 and HR 2647. What do they do?
HR 645 requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers on military installations. These are designed, according to the bill’s language, to provide temporary housing and humanitarian assistance in case of an emergency or national disaster. And one clause of the bill reads: “to meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.”
And Hastings’ other bill, HR 2647, gives the Attorney General the power to determine who or what is a hate group.
We touched on the possibility of foreign or United Nations troops enforcing laws on American soil in conjunction with U.S. census takers recording Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates, Census Workers Marking GPS Coordinates of U.S. Homes, June 19.
Now to connect the dots: Foreign troops brought to the U.S. use GPS coordinates to locate and arrest domestic terrorists (as defined by Attorney General) and taken to military installations where they are held in detention in concentration camp-style facilities.
As the march toward fascism continues and civil unrest grows, who knows what the government boys and girls might try next?
