Take a look at the Health Care Bill the House is now voting on:

• Page 16: States that if you have insurance at the time of the bill
becoming law and change, you will be required to take a similar plan.
If that is not available, you will be required to take the gov option!

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the American Medical Association sent a letter to House leaders supporting H.R. 3200, "America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009."

"This legislation includes a broad range of provisions that are key to effective, comprehensive health system reform," said J. James Rohack, MD, AMA president. "We urge the House committees of jurisdiction to pass the bill for consideration by the full House." H.R. 3200 includes provisions key to effective, comprehensive health reform, including:


•Coverage to all Americans through health insurance market reforms
•A choice of plans through a health insurance exchange
•An end to coverage denials based on pre-existing conditions
•Fundamental Medicare reform, including repeal of the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula
•Additional funding for primary care services, without reductions on specialty care
•Individual responsibility for health insurance, including premium assistance to those who need it
•Prevention and wellness initiatives to help keep Americans healthy
•Initiatives to address physician workforce concerns
"The status quo is unacceptable," Dr. Rohack said. "We support passage of H.R. 3200, and we look forward to additional constructive dialogue as the long process of passing a health reform bill continues. This is an important step, but one of many steps in the process. The AMA is actively engaged with Congress and the administration to achieve health reform that best meets the needs of patients and physicians. maybe your doctor is a member and maybe your doctor isnt... you might want to check on that....

and for what it is worth, a BIG number of doctors just dropped membership of the AMA when they came out in support of this bill.

You need an update on your news. Over a thousand doctors have come out against this reform.

They are NOT in agreement with the AMA.

The AMA opposed this Obama plan early on. The media reports part of what Obama regurgitates. Obama knew the AMA opposed it and promised them he would let them be involved in drafting the final plans. Kinda like he secretly made promises to the Drug makers.

The AMA -- which has long opposed government health care intervention, including the Clinton's administration's attempt to revamp the system in 1994 -- issued a statement calling the House version of the bill "a solid start to achieving health reform this year that makes a positive difference for patients and physicians."

A start to reform doesn't look like endorsement to me. If I start my boat, That doesn't mean I caught fish. it means I started the motor.

obama on prescription drugs: "now, in terms of savings for you as a medicare recipient, the biggest one is on prescription drugs, because the prescription drug companies have already said that they would be willing to put up $80 billion in rebates for prescription drugs as part of a healthcare reform package. now, we may be able to get even more than that."

fact: the white house admitted last week that a new york times report that the administration had cut a backroom deal with the pharmaceutical companies was accurate. The administration desperately wanted to show that private companies were supporting its healthcare initiatives, so it offered the drug companies a deal: if they would sign onto the plan and agree to $80 billion in cuts, the administration would guarantee it would not allow congress to go back to them for further reductions in drug prices. Former clinton administration labor secretary robert reich wrote in a salon.com column that he was "appalled" that obama – who promised a new type of government independent of lobbyists – had cut a secret deal with big pharma. "we're on a precarious road – and wherever it leads, it's not toward democracy," reich wrote.

footnote: Obama's secret deal with the drug companies was exposed after the companies sought assurances, due to suggestions that they might be asked to make even deeper cuts despite the white house agreement. Obama's statement that "we may be able to get even more than that" will resonate in corporate boardrooms, as ceos evaluate whether they can trust the white house to live up to its end of any bargains.
