Maybe ever. It's from Jon at the Exurban League and what's really remarkable is that these "remarks" by the president in response to the pirate attack on our ship and the subsequent hostage situation ring so true that unless you keep telling yourself its a put on, you might think it real.

Since the pirates are still holding the captain, I have sent FBI negotiators to facilitate his safe and speedy release. I assure his friends and family that I will not stop until this man-made disaster is resolved in a peaceful, tolerant and ecologically-sound manner.

Obviously, this incident has raised many concerns among Americans. There have been calls for justice and even violence against the misguided perpetrators. But such an emotional reaction has led to the disparagement of entire groups with which we are unfamiliar. We have seen this throughout history.

For too long, America has been too dismissive of the proud culture and invaluable contributions of the Pirate Community. Whether it is their pioneering work with prosthetics, husbandry of tropical birds or fanciful fashion sense, America owes a deep debt to Pirates.

The past eight years have shown a failure to appreciate the historic role of these noble seafarers. Instead of celebrating their entreprenuerial spirit and seeking to partner with them to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

Some of us wonder if our current Overseas Contingency Operation would even be needed had the last administration not been so quick to label Pirates as "thieves," "terrorists" and worse. Such swashbucklaphobia can lead to tragic results, as we have seen this week.

Obama announces he will ask Joe Biden to create a "cabinet-level Czar of Pirate Outreach and Buccaneer Interrelation."

The other day when I heard one of his cabinent wanted to refer to terrorism as "mad made disasters" I almost threw up. How stupid and naive can these people be or think Americans are? You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. You can call terrorism apple pie but it is still terrorism.

Isn’t it interesting to watch the drama when the shoe is on the other foot? While the world watches and condemns Israel for (1) protecting its citizens and (2) taking steps to bring murders to justice, re: the Israeli used of deadly force in response to acts of terror, we now watch how a handful of thugs can hold a U.S. flotilla of war ships at bay.

The United States cannot proclaim “enough is enough” like the Jews have, because we have not been subject to sixty years of high seas terrorism (pirates). We cannot send in the Marines to clean out the nest of pirates who preyed on our commercial shipping, like we immortalized in the Marine Corps Hymn. Nor can we send in the Navy Seals under the cover of darkness and extract our ship’s captain, knowing that they could do it quickly. Of course, if they should happen to sink the pirates’ boat as they sail away – oops!

My suggestion to President Obama, the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff – call off the navy, the FBI, shipping company executives and anyone else trying to cut a deal with hijackers, and send for our good allies and experienced hostage extractors, the Israelis. And, if they are still up to the task (still trained and equipped to carry out their mission) – send in the Marines where they can do the most good.

Sorry, we can’t do that, can we? No one in the entire world can do that. In order for the governments of the world to maintain their high moral ground, we must remain willing victims, at the mercy, and under the threat of pirates (terrorists), or loose our only argument for the condemnation of Israel - for taking a strong stand in defense against her publicly proclaimed and passionate (suicidal) enemies.

No, we must give into the pirate’s demands. We must pay the pirates their ransom demands and allow (or provide) them with safe transport to a port of their choice, even if they do not release their hostage!

What about the other pirates sailing in with captured ships and holding their hostage crews as human shields? Hey! It works on land in the middle east, why not on the high seas?

They are quickly going to cut of Israel in the next little while! Obama bowed to the Saudi king because he is sympathetic to that world!

Israel is about to take out the Iranian nuclear program real quick. I would look for that within the next few months as Iran is crowing about their lastest aquiring of nuclear tech.

Obama does not have the backbone to be strong! He is the biggest wimp that America could produce. This thing is going bad quickly.

John Keegan writing in the UK Telegraph has explained in simple English (hopefully using a delightful British accent) how to put an end to Somalian piracy.

Here is his solution:

The Gulf of Aden is the southern exit of the Suez Canal, and the ships on which the pirates are preying are not small sailing vessels, but huge container ships, carrying the cargoes upon which the world's prosperity depends.

The rich nations are already taking steps to protect their shipping – the US 5th Fleet has five to 10 ships in the area; there is also an EU force, and a Nato fleet. A host of countries, including Britain, China, Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, Denmark and Malaysia, have either sent warships or are reportedly considering doing so.

Such ships must act promptly and ruthlessly, as piracy will spread unless it is stamped out. The Gulf of Aden is an exit from the Mediterranean, one of the world's most important seas, crossed annually by thousands of ships. So our campaign must be ruthless and pitiless: pirate ships must be sunk on sight and the crews left to swim to safety, if it can be reached.
