What makes you mad?
One of the things that makes me angry is when Americans come to Brazil and criticize the people or the church...I have a hard time dealing with people that are so naive to think here is their land or think I should spend my them making our people look like Americans...
I generally work 16 hours a day! Mostly on Bible studies to send out, putting pictures on the forum for people to pray, then going to church, making visits, and all that involves missionary life…
I have never (we) had much money although I now live in a very nice home that was paid in full for us by a friend. However our people know that fact and are not jealous because they have followed our lives for over 40 years…some remember me washing clothes in the creek and cooking with wood stoves! Today I am so blessed but it bothers me when Americans come and tell me the people stink and this or that…especially if they make faces…

Sister Alvear,
I don't blame you for being angry. Just consider the source though. Many Americans don't travel much outside their own country and have never been exposed to the idea that other cultures do not think or see things like they do.
It is hard for some folks to realize there are other paradigms besides their own. Just keep doing the Lord's work and what you know is right. That will please the only One that really matters.

Just tell them if they don't like it to come back over here. I would love to go somewhere like that and visit a diffrent culture than ours I think people over here don't understand how good we have it. I would love to try the food somewhere like that

You know what - just thought of this too. Jim Cymbala (Brookland Tabernacle) prayed that God would take his sense of smell away so that he could minister to the street people of NY because they smelled so bad.
Wonder if those people love God enough to think about praying that prayer. I'm mad for you - lol!

Me too.Recently My wife and I have befriended an arabic family in our development.It has been fun being introduced to their culture and their food,Pray that we can influence them for Jesus.

I guess that's what makes me mad too, when people think their own doo doesn't stink. LOL!

When I read the thread title I was going to answer "stupid people", but decided that wasn't the right thing to say. However, I think it might apply.

I have no certain person in mind...just a life time on the mission field...and was thinkng this morning about love...maybe that is the missing ingredient many times...
I remember when I worked all those years at a leper colony...I loved them so much that in the end it never dawned on me they were lepers...they were my friends...
Yes, in our work for God we must recieve many baptisms of love...
