We all know Stockton, CA as the home of Christian Life College and also one of the largest if not the largest UPC churches in the United States. It just makes me wonder if the members of the church could be placed in the same category as most miserable or are they somehow protected from this recession and is this church seeing the effects of the economic troubles.
Keith's family (we have probably said this a 1kx) roots are with CLC back when it was on Cherokee Rd. Keith Grandpa knew Clyde Haney when he pastored in Pasadena.
All my children were born there and so was my husband.
My grandparents lived there until they both died.
There are parts that are wonderful and parts that are down right scary.
I imagine CA will be mniserable all the way a round once they release the 57,000+ prisoners LOL
Well I guess we just need to offer some sort of recovery for these men through our churches-could be a great harvest if we look it at that way--the other way to look at is not a pretty picture.
This is shocking and yet most likely true. I still think there are worse places that I have been to, Bakersfield tops the list (sorry Dizzie). At least in Stockton, we were in close proximity to the Bay Area, the Coast, Sierra's and Tahoe. I love what Stockton contributed to in my life, I was born there, my sons were born there, met my wife there, God called me and changed my life there, some of my best friends still live there, etc. My parents still live there.
Actually I still work in Stockton or about 7 miles outside of it.

Lived there for about 15 years... it was pretty rough to folks who lived outside of Stockton.... Living there you knew where to go and where not to go after dark....
It has probably gotten worse since all the foreclosures...but I have family there as well as many friends...

Is that restaurant still there that has the Victorian era 3-D viewers in the waiting area? Can't remember the name.
