Shrinking food

Have you noticed food packaging is shrinking?

I reached for a can of tuna on sale a few weeks back and thought it looked smaller. It was five ounces. I took it home and compared it to some cans I had in my cupboards which were 6 ounces! We getting less food for our buck!!

Easier to do that than raise the prices. They are counting on people not noticing.

I know people who pay extra to get less food. You should just do the Joe Namath thing and make a sandwich right in the store and eat it there. Saves money.

And then they raise the price on the smaller can -- again and again. And then they go back to the larger can screaming - "More value than the smaller can!"

Of course I've noticed. Just about everything is coming in smaller packages! Sugar in 4 lb bags instead of 5 lb bags. Cereals are 11-12 oz boxes instead of 15-18 oz boxes. Cheese slices and lunchmeats in 12 oz packages instead of 16 oz packages.....

Tuna used to be available 3 cans for $1. Then it was 2 cans for $1. Then it was 65 cents per can. I was in Walmart last week and noticed an endcap display with canned tuna. The large sign above it said PRICE ROLLBACK. Was $1.08 NOW- 78 cents!!

Something is definitely wrong there.......

I was walking by the PopTarts today and thought my eyes were playing tricks with me!! The boxes looked smaller. I know the chip manufacturers have been doing this stuff for a long time now, but it seems lately everything on the shelves are shrinking!!

Re: Shrinking food

a "pound" of coffee is 12 or 13 ounces
margarine is no longer 16 ounces but has dropped to 15
16 ounce canned goods are 12-13 ounces

I don't think clothes sizes are getting smaller.
I just think I'm getting bigger.

Re: Shrinking food

Maybe that'll cause some people to eat less, since there'll less per package?
Less overeating taking place?

Healthier in the long run?

I dunno. Just guessing here.
Maybe something good can come out of this stuff.
