NAIS is a program that seeks to eventually force every American who owns even one chicken, horse, goat, sheep, cow etc to register that animal with the government.

To own an animal on your own property for your own use or enjoyment (even if this animal is only a pet) you must register your property and obtain a premises ID.

Many of us have been contacting our legislators and fighting NAIS for years but there are continual efforts to get this program going.

Animals are the current target... Gardens will be next.

Because the need to fight this is so great some organizations like the Arkansas Animal Producers Association are offering specials for membership for anyone living in any state in the union. It is usually $10 per year... they are offering a $1 lifetime membership right now because sheer numbers is what it is going to take and they need as many people behind them as they can get.

There is no point in it at all...

This will put a hardship on the growing movement for people to raise their own food.

It is also none of the governments business what I grow on my land for my family.

D4T, my husband and I talked about this today. He said it is already this way in Texas. You have to register livestock. They are considered taxable assets. They also want to track food borne diseases, as well as from livestock.
