I've loved his music since his first solo release back in the early 90's and have every project he's released. His early material is vocally superior, IMO, to his newer stuff, but still an awesome and powerful voice.

I still get chills when I hear him sing "Midnight Cry" with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
His new project, The Prodigal Comes Home, is starting to get some play on a few of the more mainstream "christian" radio stations (the "family-friendly" type that don't like the christian label). His first release, "Feels Like Redemption", is absolutely beautiful.

Here's him singing "Midnight Cry" with BTC. Awesome!

Click the videos to hear him. He's an awesome singer. Back in the late 80's/early 90's he was the lead singer for the Gaither Vocal Band and still sings with them a lot.
He was involved in a scandalous adultery affair in the early 90's and his record label dropped him, he returned all of his Dove Awards, and nobody was playing his music. Then about 10 years ago, he reappeared, first with a couple secular/pop projects but he has returned to singing christian music. His is a very tragic story of what can happen when we lose sight of why we're doing what we're doing. But it's also an awesome story about reconciliation and restoration.
I don't necessarily have the same eschatological views as what he's singing in these songs, but the power in his voice and the passion and conviction with which he sings is just plain inspiring.
He has a truly amazing voice, IMO.

Okay, I know who he is now. He did have a great voice, I knew nothing about his problems.

Since all of Michael English's problems, I haven't had a lot of respect for him. I am acquainted with his ex and her new husband, who are great people. BUT, I happened to catch him on TBN Wed. night, which I rarely watch. Phil Munsey was interviewing him and his wife and it was really good. He was very honest about his affair, his drug addiction, and how God got a hold of him and turned his life around.
He is much heavier than he was when he was the Christian "heart-throb", but he still has a great voice. He sang a song called "It Sounds Like Redemption" which is a reflection on the past few years of his life.
I was much more impressed with him than I had been previously.

I remember meeting him just before he joined Gaithers at an area concert. I can't remember the group he was with at the time.
