any one know Latin?

Got a question for anyone who knows Latin. On the back of a dollar bill there are the words Novus Ordo Seclorum I know what Novus and Ordo means but I am having much difficulty with Seclorum. I can not find anything that helps me with it.
Anyone know?
or anyone want to take a guess?
=)
Or am I blind and that is NOT what I am reading?

Re: any one know Latin?

It means 'Give your money to the first person who responds to your question asking what this is really saying.'

So Seclorum would mean "ages", or "of the ages"?

Re: any one know Latin?

This is from The Free Dictionary.Com Site:

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionar...vus+Ordo+Mundi

New World Order (Novus Ordo Mundi or Novus Ordo Seclorum) refers to a conspiracy in which a powerful and secretive group is to be conspiring to eventually rule the world via an autonomous world government, which would replace sovereign states and other checks and balances in world power struggles. In the new world order, many significant occurrences are caused by a powerful secret group. Historical and current events are seen as steps in an on-going plot to rule the world primarily through a combination of political finance, social engineering, mind control, and fear-based propaganda, in addition to alleged mass genocides of Christian sects. One of its early mentions was in the 1975 Gerald Ford's "Declaration of Interdependence" as recorded by historian Henry Steele Commager which states that: "we must join with others to bring forth a new world order....Narrow notions of national sovereignty must not be permitted to curtail that obligation".

Here's more info:

http://www.greatseal.com/mottoes/seclorum.html

"Novus Ordo Seclorum" was the motto suggested in 1782 by Charles Thomson, the Founding Father chosen by the Continental Congress to come up with the final design for the Great Seal of the United States.

On June 20, 1782, Congress approved Thomson's design for both sides of the Great Seal whose official description states:

"On the base of the pyramid the numerical letters MDCCLXXVI
& underneath the following motto. 'novus ordo seclorum'."

Read more at the 2nd link...Also, the wiki entry link is below...The wikipedia entry says that the translatoin of "New World Order" is a mistranslation - That the literal translation is "New Order of the Ages"...Some websites as the dictionary above disputes that translation.

Im sure Seclorum is where we get the word secular. So this means in essence new World order I think :-)

This was the translation that Miriam Webster gives for the entire phrase.
But, when I looked for the specific word I found a reference that stated it meant Great Seal...sooo, given all the other info, I just really don't KNOW what it means!

SORRY!
