Turns out, "Joe the Plumber" the mega star of the debate last night isn't a licensed plumber.
He also admits that he doesn't have any plan to buy the business we've heard so much about and that at his current income level, Obama's tax plan wouldn't hurt him personally.
I know the guy exists, but he doesn't have a license to perform plumbing work according to his local county.
"...Indeed, Joe the Plumber may have difficulty making $250,000 a year owning a plumbing business. Joe isn't a licensed plumber. He told The Associated Press Thursday that he has worked for six years for a small plumbing company that does residential work and because he works for someone else, he doesn't need a license.
He said he and owner Al Newell have talked about Joe taking over the business at some point. And then anything is possible...."
He does plumbing work, though. Doesn't that count?

Just like the press and government to use a spontaneous interview to go after someone who dares try to corner their candy boy.
From your source, MikeinAR:
"...Mr. Wurzelbacher did not respond to a message left on his home phone and there was no answer at his plumbing business....
...Unlike some other states, Ohio does not have a formal statewide licensing system for plumbers. But the city of Toledo and other municipalities do, Mr. Joseph said, and Mr. Wurzelbacher has not met those requirements."
I have a feeling if Joe the Plumber had expressed support for Obama, no one would be breathing a word about his lack of license.
Goodness, the media plays so dirty sometimes. It's sickening.

Yeah it counts for something I guess. Maybe we should rename him "Joe the Wannabe Plumber".
I think it's funny that such a big deal was made about him, when he isn't even licensed, he's the subject of two tax lien's, and the local plumber's union leader claims, "he's playing games with the world."
I bet the guy wishes they'd never mentioned his name last night.

He can own his own plumbing business as long as he has a licensed master plumber to work under. Is he a journeyman plumber?

*He exists.
*He IS a plumber (he does residential plumbing work)
*He has discussed with his boss eventually taking over the business.
So, Joe the Plumber actually *is.*
I do think he needs to get the licensing problem taken care of ASAP, though.
The article mentioned that he has two tax liens...lol...we were once subject to a tax lien by the state of Louisiana, because I forgot to mail in a state return on which we owed $17.00. We ended up having to pay nearly $1,000.00 in fines and penalties by the time we figured it out. (We moved out of state and we didn't realize we even had a lien until we discovered it on our credit report.)

The big deal is being made by the press, who are trying to discredit him because he dared question their prized candidate.
