Re: Obama's Youth!

This kind of mentality is borderline cultic to me.

Sad.

Re: Obama's Youth!

Messiah complex.

I can see how people can get swept up in the "hope and promise" a charismatic leader supposedly brings.

I used to wonder how people would ever get so swept up to the point they would one day worship a man, the Antichrist. But now it doesnt seem so far fetched at all. People can be really gullible; especially when they're looking for a hero. And so many Americans do seem to be looking for a hero.

Re: Obama's Youth!

I think these kids are just inspired by a popular modern black leader.

I'd like to know the full story behind what's in this video. It looks like these kids might be in some form of military school for troubled black youth (or in JROTC). They may have been challenged by the cadre to put together an exhibition routine to express their life goals and the inspiration they've drawn from a prominent black leader....and right now the most prominent black leader happens to be Obama.

I think the real psychosis can be found in the minds of those who would exaggerate what these kids are doing.

An exaggeration?

Whatever inspired this video is where the real psychosis is found. This video's message is portrayed along the lines of the cultic and reminds me of Hitler's youth proganda. It could have been produced differently so as not to come across as indoctrination.

Psychosis? Exaggeration? That would almost be funny if it weren't so sad.

I strongly doubt you are seeing this matter in it's larger context. Maybe you're unaware of the extent of pro-Obama songs and pro-Obama youth activities that have cropped up this election season.... (such as the abundance of pro-BarackObama songs found on YouTube, many involving children)

Did you hear similar pro-Bush or pro-Clinton youth groups forming in past campaign years? Or pro-Kerry, pro-Gore, etc... ? I think not.

The extent to which people are hailing this man as some kind of political world-changer and political messiah is unprecedented in recent US political history.

Perhaps you think that people who object to having little children singing Obama's praises in this video are also suffering from psychosis also:

I'd like to see it presented by the people who made it in context. I know an JROTC unit that performed an exhibition drill ceremony for Colin Powell when he was in town for a book signing.

I remember the theater students and teachers (primarily liberals) calling JROTC students "ROTC Nazis", and complaining that they feared JROTC brainwashed kids into joining the military and filled their minds with pro-military propaganda.

The accusation being made against this kids is stupid.

Get real. Obama is far more popular than Bush, Clinton, Kerry, or Gore. And since he's black he makes for a very inspirational leader for troubled who might have strikes of various kinds against them.

Obama is just the first extremely popular political figure we've seen in a generation.

Don't freak out. It will pass.

Re: Obama's Youth!

From the Youtube author

There's an update regarding the video with the African American teens shown on YouTube in the video below. This morning, I received a message from a friend named Dan who gave me the address of the school where this video was filmed. This is the name:

URBAN COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
1524 PASEO BLVD
18th & Vine District, Kansas City, MO
Educational Organization

I called and spoke to Bernard, who said he was the assistant Dean. He was very gentlemanly and when I voiced my concerns about the video, he told me that this was taken at the school last year when Obama was beginning his campaign. He assured me that they stopped this "regiment" because they felt the person who was organizing it was pushing his political agenda.

Duh.

He assured me that he didn't know it was on YouTube. I gave him the link to where to go for this video and when he found it he said, "Oh this is not good. I had no idea" I told him I'd take his word for it. He then asked me, nicely, "what's the main concern? Because I want to understand where you're coming from so that I can figure out how to handle this."

Nicely, I told him that the video looked militant. I told him about the Colburn School video and how it resembles propaganda films from Communist dictatorships. I told him that the US military is frowned upon for going to high schools trying to recruit potential grads into joining their ranks. Why shouldn't we frown upon those who come to a school like yours to encourage kids to worship a politician? One who is not even a president.

I also said that if this was done to make kids feel better about themselves, why do it in the name of Obama? Why not encourage kids to believe in the power of themselves?

He assured me that he would get to the bottom of the situation, thanked me for my call and we hung up.
