Blue Denim Whales at Ladies Conferences

How would you feel if you went into a Ladies Conference weighing about 30-50 lbs too much and the speaker screamed for an hour about how sinful it is to be overweight?

Is that type of "preaching" appropriate?

If it is gluttony - yes. If not then don't worry about it.

Chances are I wouldn't sit and listen to anyone who was SCREAMING anything at me... regardless of the message. I don't mind points being stressed in a louder tone of voice-- but when they start screaming-- I generally tend to tune them out.

I think that comes from having to tune out kids screaming at each other sometimes... it's just an automatic response to screaming.

I'm not even going to bite on the "BDW" discussion....

This is one are I think we need to improve in. Gluttony is obvious a sin, it needs to be preached on more.

I am not crazy about screaming preachers either - it just annoys me and then I can't concentrate. I don't like anything loud - I can tolerate loud music depending on what I am doing but other than that I can't stand loudness.

No worse than I felt when a male preacher spoke quite harshly, descriptively and lengthy about overweight and obese people!
