How Belonging to AFF has Helped Me...

I've learned that I am quick to anger and am working on that.

I've learned that there are lotsa Christians that think like I do... and lots that don't.

I've learned there is nothing new under the sun.

How 'bout you? Has this forum contributed to your character?

I am glad at least that I can contribute to your learning process...

I have learned that I was guilty of judging others, and also felt judged by some on here. But I have also learned there are a lot of loving people on this forum.

Re: How Belonging to AFF has Helped Me...

Not sure if it has helped me much, but I have learned a lot.

I've learned that people have already made up their minds, and that 99% of the posts are rehashes of the same arguments by the same people with the same beliefs.

I learned that I am more conservative than I thought.

I also learned that there are a lot more snotty conservatives than liberals on this board. I've learned almost every conservative thinks that changing Obama's name in their posts is funny. I've learned that liberals like to stir the pot for the sake of it. I've learned that there is a lot of history on this board that must be taken into account when having discussions. I've learned that many people don't use spellcheck. I've learned the meaning of the terms 1-Stepper and 3-Stepper.

I have learned that there are a lot of good people on AFF.

Most of all, I learned that it can be a huge time-waster that puts me in a bad mood if I stay on here too long.

Re: How Belonging to AFF has Helped Me...

I've learned a few things.

I've learned that there are more one-steppers out there than I had thought.

I've learned that liberals can be as mean spirited as conservatives some times.

I've learned that liberals and conservatives and one-steppers and three-steppers respond to prayer requests and we pray for one another here.

I've learned that there are a lot more preterists of various shades among Apostolics than I had ever imagined. And, although I don't agree with them, I respect them. Also, I've learned that I'm not smart enough to argue with them.

I've learned that Elder Epley is much more of a man of God than I realized when I first read some of his remarks. At first, he angered me and turned me off. I thought, "Who is this jerk?" With a little more time I realized he is a staunch defender of the Word of God as he sees it, is uncompromising in his convictions, and his bark is worse than his bite. When he was in Indiana he was about three hours away and did get to the Cincinnati area from time to time. I extended him an invitation to be my guest at one of his favorite restaurants (Pappadeaux) which is close to my house (even pm'd him my cell phone number) but now that he's moved south that may not happen.

I've more titles or labels for people of different views or beliefs than I ever thought possible.

Re: How Belonging to AFF has Helped Me...

I've learned I am not the only ne that feels the way I do.

I've learned that I may agree with a liberal on thread and a conservative on another.

I've learned that I really know what I believe and nothing is going to change that except God himself.

I've learned how to say what I want to say and let it go. If someone agrees great if not great. No reason to take it personally.

I've learned that I have a deeper love of people I do not know than I thought.

I've learned that there are still supposed Christians out there that judge others.

I've learned that there are Liberals who are very judgemental, yet preach at conservatives for the same thing.

I've learned that just because you have not felt something for years does not mean it will never reignite in you. My passion for missions has been reignited and my desire to do something more is deeper. Had decided to ignore it for years and low and behold you go and meet up with Janice Alvear and who can resist her passion and drive?

I don't know any of you personally that I know of. Met you all here by 'chance' =) but I am learning to love you all as you are, no questions asked.

Re: How Belonging to AFF has Helped Me...

AFF has helped me:
Know that there are a lot of different beliefs in the Apostolic Circle
Know what I believe and be able to express that belief
Know there are a lot of great people out there that I now count as friends and prayer partners
