Pray For Cuba Saints! (my personal story)

Have I got a quick story for you. Most of you know that I am a flight attendant for American Airlines. Well, today, I was boarding the aircraft in Cuba coming back to Miami Florida. Well, let me back track, you wonder how did I get to Cuba since no American Airlines are allowed over there. Well, that’s not quite the truth. Companies charter planes to go over to Cuba from the United States (Fort. Lauderdale and Miami) so that’s how I got there. I was working a charter flight. Well, back to my story. I was boarding the plane and this old women in a long skirt and a chapel veil came on the plane. I smiled at her and knew she knew no English. I translated for her into Spanish and asked her if she was Apostolic. Her face lit up. She said YES! I said, “Apostolic were you Baptise in Jesus Name right”? She said “Ohhhhhh Yes”. When I tell you I almost went slam INNNNNNNNNNNN on that plane. I told her that the women in my church cover their heads too and that I was Apostolic. Man oh man did me and that old mother from cuba get to rejoicing. She started shouting when we landed in Miami “Jesus Christo, Jesus Christo”. I kissed her good bye and will probably never see her again until the rapture. But saints, I tell you, there are people living Holy all over this world YOU HEAR ME! Thank God for TRUE HOLINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let us continue to pray for the people in Cuba as they are a very poor nation over there. No soap. No toilet paper. They only eat chicken once a month and NEVER eat beef (there are no cows there). Fidel Castro really has them in bondage. But ohhhh, there is a God that sits high and looks low and I believe God for complete DELIVERANCE for Cuba and their horrendous government.

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I'm hoping you were tying the two bolded sentences together in your story...

Uh, the long skirt and chapel veil let me know she was of some sort of religion. It was not until I asked her that confirmed for me that she was apostolic.

I dont get it, it was the backdrop to my story.

Just making sure you weren't equating her manner of dress to true holiness, that's all.

Her manner of dress was resembling "true holiness". However, you are so missing the entire reason why I posted this. Its a) to let you know that there are apostolics all over the world including oppressed countries like Cuba and b) so that we can pray for Cuba that they come out of their opressed state. Again, this is my personal story. Is there other countries that are opressed? SURE! However, for this story, we are talking about Cuba. Instead of picking out something on dress code, why dont you post that you'll be praying, or that you enjoyed the story, or that your happy to see that I met a fellow apostolic in another country other than the United States. Stop being a pot stirrer and trying to find fault in a story. You know, this is exactly the reason why people dont want to come to this site, because they are always afraid that if they post something, others are going to jump on them about standards and dress. And yes, I'm proud to say that I believe in 100% external and internal (which leads to Eternal) HOLINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if holiness = dress apostolics lose to muslins...I saw one in the airport all I could see was her eyes...she gave me the creeps...
if white shirts = holiness the witch doctors have it made for they dress in all white...

just a little food for thought...

and yes I pray for Cuba my brother in law and some of his family work for the Voice of Martyrs...

It's only a good thing when it's Biblical. That's the problem in churches today. We focus so much on how we look and tell ourselves that how we dress makes us holy when we are missing what the Word of God says and we set ourselves up where we don't belong.

The Bible says we are holy as He is holy. It has nothing to do with our clothing.

And yes, I liked your story. I've met lots of Christians in my journeys, but regardless what I might wear, I want people to see the Jesus I'm wearing.

Oh, and talking about standards on this site doesn't keep them away, it draws them instead! LOL!!

Besides, I haven't pot stirred in a while. I'm overdue.

Re: Pray For Cuba Saints! (my personal story)

Sorry the holiness thing kind of put a damper on your story, it really was beautiful. Who knows what would have happened had the lady been Catholic or some other religion, or who was not dressed as you described and you were not prompted to say anything?

I suppose to Apostolics, the manner of dress is kind of like an outward calling card to other Apostolics...kind of like two African tribesman finding each other in the middle of a young Republican's meeting.

Nevertheless, this has cultural aspects that dictated to the spiritual, nothing wrong with that. How many other people in the Body of Chirst or those in need that we MISS because we make snap judgements about their state of holiness based on their outward appearance.

I have related the story of seeing a couple in a restaurant where the lady was wearing the apostolic uniform, I felt a leap in my spirit, "Hey, those folks are some of us!!"

I approached her and asked where they were from and what church they attended, the lady with an indignant attitude scrunched up her nose and said, "We meet in the home like the bible says." Thats it, I just turned and walked away...kinda hurt.

But hey! You're right, we need to pray for Cuba...

Praise the Lord, the gospel is still reaching the oppressed. What a great testimony.
