James Burton
I don't know if anybody here is familiar with James Burton who was a UPC missionary in South America for many years or not. He was promoted to his eternal reward a few days ago. I didn't really know him. He was at ABI but was married and I don't even remember if I met him there or not. He was older than I and was from the UPC church here in Cincinnati where I went but we just never had any/much interaction.
This is his obituary as it appeared in the Cincinnati newspaper:
BURTON Rev. James M., beloved husband of Martha (nee Schafer), loving father of Lonnie (Gail), Larry, Lynn (Cornell), Lowell (Belkis) and Lewis (Adriana) Burton and Lisa (Steve) Marx, also survived by 15 grand and 17 great-grandchildren. and dear brother-in-law of Paul (Juanita) Schafer. Thursday, September 4, 2008, age 78. James was regional director to South America and missionary to Venezuela and Uruguay from 1961 to 2000. Visitation at Calvary Church, 11970 Kenn Rd., Springdale, OH 45240 Monday from 6:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to United Pentecostal Church, FMD acct.#988, 8855 Dunn Rd., Hazelwood, MO 63042 for the new bible school in Venezuela. Hodapp Funeral Home, West Chester, serving the family.
