Planning Help!

I am in need of some help,
I need to plan a banquet for about 100 people, this consists of 11th and 12th graders, their dates and parents. This will be in April and it is our "prom" alternative. It is generally a very nice banquet, and it will need to be catered. In the last few years, they have had very unimaginative planners and this year the lot fell to me.

Give me ideas! PLEEEEASE!
I used to to flowers for weddings and such, but I have never had to actually go about finding a place, etc.

Our budget is around $5000.00

Re: Planning Help!

Be sure to bring in a professional or semi-professional photographer to take formal portraits as they are coming in for the evening.

At this point, that is the ONLY thing that is set. We have "our guy" who does every event.

But thanks!

Re: Planning Help!

When my daughter graduated from High School we had a Chior banquet and the theme was the 50's. The chior sang popular songs from the 50's and we all dressed the part. We had the food catered in and had the tables in "U" shape around the stage where the inside could be the dance floor. Was quite like a 'sock hop'. It was a blast for kids, parents, and teachers alike.

I probably should have been more clear.
It HAS to be a formal banquet, no dancing involved. I just need some ideas of where and who to contact, not specifically; but how to you go about finding places that will host one, that the kids will be comfortable paying $80.00 per couple to attend.

Re: Planning Help!

Ok,,, do yall have a community center there or a rec center? Usually they have room where they will rent and you can decorate them... and pretty much do whatever but the thing is they usually have a closing time of 10 pm...

There are smaller ballrooms at hotels that will also rent. We actually got a fairly decent sized one for my sisters wedding and we only paid 800 if we had the reception on a week night... 1000 for the weekend..

Thing is we had to pay the entire thing up front

If you have a larger church in your area with a large fellowship hall they will also probably rent it out... I know the church I grew up in has a very formal fellowship hall and they rent it out often for different things including receptions etc.

Just a few ideas
