Interview with ALJC Chairman

For anyone who is interested, you can go to
http://www.ninetyandnine.com/Archive...0825/cover.htm
for an interview with the Chairman of the ALJC (Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ).

I went to an ALJC church from 1963 or 1964 until 1978.
I was a licensed minister in that organization for 3 or 4 years and served as sectional youth leader for the Ohio District.

Re: Interview with ALJC Chairman

I found it interesting that the ALJC have just produced two "cutting edge" TV commercials that are going to be made available for local churches to use.

I wonder if the UPCI has any plans to produce something like that for it's churches to use? I have seen the concept in the past. You can do a generic commercial then add a graphic / narrator clip at the end tying it to the local church with the name, address, phone number, website, etc. It is an inexpensive way for churches to have a TV commercial to use in advertising.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Interview with ALJC Chairman

The upci youth radio ads about 5-6 years ago were atrocious. Almost all of them went over 30 seconds. They didn't leave room for a local tag. I don't see the aljc as delivering "cutting edge" product. Their commercials may be cutting edge, but their services are no different than an average upci service.

Re: Interview with ALJC Chairman

A part of the ALJC churchs have tv broadcast programs. Some of them are very good, but some are just ok. Down side to some of them like in TN is that there a couple that the broadcast go into towns that they have a ALJC church that also has a program. But both pastors are great friends and neither of them care if people from Knoxville go to the church in Maryville. Both churches are great size, 500+. The commercials and programs can be cutting edge--compared to what we are used to, but still subpar compared to other religious programs. Though if they are done right with the anointing we possess there is a noticabel difference. The church in Knoxville, FAC, have shown services where the choir sings and the place erupts in worship and shouting and there is no service to speak of. These types often get the best response from viewers saying they really feel the spirit in it. Over the years of the TV program there has been approx 75 families added to the church because of it.
