Does anyone here have satellite internet? I just ordered hughesnet for my house since there is no dsl available. According to the Fair Access Policy, I will only be allowed 375MB of download per day before slowing down to regular dialup speeds. Does anyone know how many hours of streaming video is 375MB of info?
In regards to wireless internet, how does that work if you are in the house most of the time when using computer? Do you need an antenna for wireless internet?

You can kiss watching any movies good-bye. Also, if you like to watch stuff on Youtube, plan on using up your allotment pretty quicklike. I did not realize Hughesnet had gone to a rationing type of plan. There's no cable available where you are?

no cable where I am. Not even sure wireless is an option. satellite is my only option to be able to watch videos, youtube, myspace etc.
does anyone know how fast 375 MB of video will be used up?

If there is a good cellphone company in your area, you might want to think about checking with them. I know ATT is offering a card you can use to access the internet via their system. I am sure Verizon is offering something similiar. I have no idea what it would cost to go that route. I know satellite service isn't cheap, so maybe you could give the cell phone companies a try.

that's wireless internet right? I called one company and they have "areas of coverage" which I don't live in. plus I would have to upgrade my laptop. hughes is $680 installation and $70 a month for the plan of 375MB. I think if you pay more monthly you get a higher "threshold"

Yes, it's a form of wireless internet. I feel for people who can't get less expensive access to the internet.
I have wireless access thru Alltel. The card cost me 100.00 and its 65.00 per month. I really don't like the price, but its great to have since my only other option was dialup.
