Re: Bernie Mac

We only started watching the Bernie Mac show this past year......

He is one that I am sad to see go so early.

Re: Bernie Mac

Sad news. I liked him a lot in the Oceans's 11 films. Seemed like a fun guy.

Re: Bernie Mac

Isn't kind of weird that a rich, young guy like him would die of pneumonia? Surely he had health insurance and good doctors? I think there's probably more to this story.

There is. He had a lung disease that has beeen in remission but affected his body and it's immune system. Acutally the medication he was on weakened his immune system.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Bernie Mac

One comment about him was that the father he played on the show was a level headed, highly principaled, strict and conservative compared to other chuckleheads only pretending to be fathers...

Re: Bernie Mac

I don't really know anything about him but I did read today that he has been married to his wife for 30 years which is an amazing feat in Hollywood.

Although he occasionally played a sort of out-of-touch-with-this-generation sort of father on the Bernie Mac show, more often than not he was shown to have the 'real wisdom' and ultimately know what he was talking about by the end of the episode. A rarity now a days.
