But how could this be?
Isn't Islam the Religion of Peace?

Hmmmm....so we have free speech when it comes to insulting and defaming Christianity and Christians but when it comes to Islam we don't?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Not a good thing, IMO.

Re: Random House pulls novel on Islam...

Interesting. You've never seen a publishing house afraid to publish a book because they're afraid Christians will react violently... because we simply dont do that. But they're afraid muslims will react violently, because often, they do. That by itself tells you a lot.

Just look at all the violence that erupted in the muslim world when some cartoons of Mohammed were published in 2005! But worse stuff than that has been published out there insulting Jesus and Christianity, but you dont see us rioting in the streets.

No to mention the killing of Dutch fillmmaker Theo Van Gogh for making a film about Islam that muslims didnt like... or the anti-Christian violence that takes place regularly in muslim countries (which the press mostly ignores)

It just makes me want to puke when I hear misguided folks talking about how Islam is such a "religion of peace".

I think it is supposed to be, TRFrance. There are extremists who could pull justification for violence from the Bible, if they wanted to, and interpreted certain scriptures in their favor.

Regardless, I dislike censorship, and it doesn't bode well for those of us who like to read banned versions of classic books and the Bible.

Its not supposed to be, not judging by the example and teachings of teh "prophet" Mohammed. Mohammed was a violent man, and encouraged his followers to be violent. One doesnt have to "twist" the words of the Koran to see how it blatantly and repeatedly encourages violence. Islam was never a religion of peace.

The idea that Islam is a religion is a "religion of peace" is a public relations myth, spoonfed to us in part by the compliant western media. Islam is by nature a violent religion.

Ms Bratt, if you wish, you can take a look at this review of the book "Secrets of the Koran: Revealing Insight into Islam's Holy Book ", one of the best books on the topic lately.
