B.C. Missionaries Are Home

Two B.C. Missionaries that Sherri met while in Africa are back in Canada.
They flew into Calgary last night and were going to stay in Africa were it not for a Son & a grand son who went there to convince them to come home.

They have an incredible story & both said they want to return as soon as possible to minister to the African people.

The Husband wants to visit the jail where the people who did this assault against them are being held.

He wants to extend forgiveness to them!!!!

When I heard that I wept.

Would I do the same or would I want my pound of flesh?

God help us.

This is a terrible thing to have happen, but thank God for bringing them through.

Praying for healing and peace.

Their oldest son told us that his dad just laid in that hospital room and cracked jokes and had everyone laughing. I cannot imagine what they went through. But their attitudes were amazing! His skull was split by a machete, and both arms broken, as well as about 60 other cuts.

One of the men who did this went to a bar afterwards and was bragging about killing two "wazungu" (white people) - evidently they hurt them so bad the men thought they were dead. Someone called the cops and they actually came to the bar and arrested him there. Eventually they caught most of the others - five men and two women prostitutes.

They took John & Eloise's car, but couldn't drive it and abandoned it while still on the property. Eloise somehow dragged John to the car and drove to another missionary's house (who we also met). She did not even recognize them as Eloise's bottom half of her face was nearly cut off. A man in Kitale sewed her up who wasn't even a surgeon, and she actually looks amazing! Her jaw is out of alignment, and they were going to do surgery on it, but the doctors in Nairobi said that God was aligning her jaw and they weren't going to mess with it.

(If I told you this before, please forgive me. I've typed about them twice while I was in Africa, and the posts somehow went away!)

He calls her his Angel for somehow getting free & finding him, & getting him into the car and bringing him to safety.

They are a Miracle.

Thier love for the people is evidenced in them not wanting to leave Africa.

Even sitting at the hotel restaurant, she would get all emotional talking about the poor little orphans they had left behind in Kitale and wondering who was taking care of them. I figure within a couple of months, they will head back to Africa.

The doctors told him he would probably be able to run again in six weeks. Evidently he ran every day - even at 70 years old. That's probably why his body is mending so well; he was in really good shape.
