We just returned from family vacay in Virginia @ Massanutten. My middle son couldn't make it due to work but the rest of us had a great time. My wife, Diane wanted to hike to see "rocks and waterfalls" so we went to Shenandoah National Park and she picked a hike. Well, it almost wiped all of us out, including my son who just returned from the military! But we did enjoy most of it.
It got very exciting while on the trail, I saw my oldest son, Josh stopped and pointing into the woods. I looked and saw a black bear about 50' from us feeding on some berries. Out came our cameras and Diane took off! We watched and took video until we saw a second bear come along who we though might be the mommy. At that point, we began to head down the trail as well.......taking video and pics as we went.
We also went kayaking, fishing, horse back riding in the park etc. It was a great time and God did some amazing things with Divine appointments meeting people.
We were only gone for a week but I was out of the pulpit for two weeks. I am so blessed to have such a great staff that I didn't get one phone call with problems. I heard such great reports of the ministry from our staff and about the worship as well. God has certainly blessed me with some extremely talented and wonderful people to work/worship/play with!
I count it all joy being a Sr. Pastor and truly love the folks at NLC!! I truly am blessed above measure!
Next adventure: China! Leaving Aug. 6th!
