Boiling eggs -- The easy way??

Can someone post a simple no fail way to boil eggs? I boiled 9 today...and two were very easy to peel...the rest were very hard...not a pretty site.

If someone can share the procedure with me...I'd be much obliged!

Peel them under cold water. Crack the shell real good, too.

This is what I do. I very seldom have a problem peeling them.

Tap the egg on the counter to crack , then roll it gently between your palms.

This loosens the shell and it will peel off.

It also depends how fresh the egg is!!!

Thanks for the tips!

Here's what I did today...

I put the eggs in water...brought the water to a boil...let it boil for 5 minutes...then I immersed the eggs in cold water...and then started to peel...I will try the tips here next time!

Thanks again!

I don't know if this makes a difference in how they peel but I always bring eggs to a full boil, cover them and turn off the heat. Let them stay for an additional 15 mins. Then I run them under cold water and peel them immediately. It does depend on how fresh the eggs are as to how easily they peel.

Someone told me that if you salt the water, they peel easier. I always salt it and it seems to work, but I don't know if that's why. I boil them for ten minutes or more and then immediately put them in cold water, even adding a few ice cubes. The shells peel right off!

A couple of tips I have learned. If you put a little bit of oil in your water it is supposed to help keep them from cracking.

Put them in cold water and take a teaspoon and insert after cracking and run around the edge and usually the shell will just pop off.

The freshness of the eggs will definitely effect how well they peel.

So are you all saying that the fresher the egg, the easier it will peel?

I've always heard the opposite. In fact, my mom used to buy eggs 2 weeks before Easter and then dare us to touch them. She wanted OLD eggs so they would peel easier on Easter.

Fresh eggs are harder to peel.

My Mom raises eggs.

Found out the hard way.
