Checking In - I'm a RN NOW!!!!!!

I've not been here in a couple weeks and I heard that some were asking about my whereabouts and well-being, so I thought I'd check in and give those of you who care an update on what I've been up to.

At this moment, I'm in a motel in Madison, WI preparing to take my RN boards tomorrow afternoon. I'm not too nervous, but just want to pass.

I'm also moving in three weeks...back home to Herrin, IL. There are several reasons for my move, the biggest being the weather in Green Bay. I just can't take the cold 8 months of the year. Also, the price of gas would kill me working there, as I currently live 35 miles from there and would be working there as a RN if I stayed. Moving closer isn't an option, as my children are still in school, and I wouldn't want them starting a new school.

In addition, I've not been attending church for quite some time for various reasons, mainly because I have finally come to the realization that staying in a UPC church isn't good for me, and here, there are no other options besides attending a Lutheran or Catholic church. No thanks. Close to Herrin, there is a former UPC preacher who is continuing an existing church that also used to be UPC when the women pastors who were there were alive and well. I may be attending there. There is another member of this forum who also attends there and I know other people who attend there who have also left the UPC.

I was in Herrin earlier this month and got a job at a hospital starting on Aug. 11 and signed a lease for a house. I believe God gave me the house because it pretty much landed in my lap. I didn't have many options after looking for a house online, so I prayed and told God I needed a house. My last day there, I got a call to look at a house after calling a realtor to check for other options. She had one 3 bdm house for rent. I loved it and gave her a security deposit and will be moving in Aug. 3rd.

In the meantime, I've been working every day, sometimes up to 14 hours a day. I only have three days off between Monday and July 29th, which will be my last day at my current job, and those three days are busy with moving, taking a trip to Chicago to apply for the transfer of my nursing license (Illinois requires me to be fingerprinted when applying for a license), painting and cleaning the house. So I've not been able to be online often, and not sure when I'll be back in any capacity.

Anyway, I will check in from time to time as my schedule allows, and if you want to contact me, just send me a PM.

Love you all.

Oh, and I'm shocked about LS. I saw part of that video when LR was watching it at my house. I can't believe anyone would 'amen' the things that man was saying. I was horrified!

Re: Checking In

HO--good to hear from you! I leave tomorrow for Africa, so I probably won't be on much in the next two weeks either. Hope you pass your tests with flying colors (whatever that means).

Is the church you're talking about in W. Frankfort? Maybe you'd rather PM that.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Checking In

Praying for you sister girl, you have been missed. I started a missing thread about you and Sis. Falla. She was on an 49th Anniversary trip with her husband. Well I know you will surely pass your tests. And God is so good, glad you found a house. Lady Rev mentioned how busy you are. Hope you've found a great church.

Yes, it is. Ever been there? The current pastor I have known of for many years, but I don't believe I ever met him. I'm kinda excited.

I'm excited for you leaving for Africa also! I should catch back up with you by the time you get back though. Take lots of pics!
