This letter is to thank you for your generous HELP DURING THIS TIME OF GREAT NEED. We are so thankful for your friendship. The family of God is an amazing thing!
We have weathered a lot of storms in the last 40 years such as Gabriel’s heart problems and 2 operations, the sickness and the passing of my mother, Brother Alvear’s car wreck and many other trials however I don’t believe have ever faced some of the things we have been in for the last months. Through it all we have held on to the promise of He who called and we KNOW He is with us and every day. Our very existence is a daily miracle.
This trial has helped me to look back into the early pages of the lives of God’s people and see how He provided manna for their daily needs…I can say with the saints of long ago He is faithful.
Pain, stress, tension, grief, needs are never eradicated from this earthly life. Reading the Bible we see that the saints of old were flesh and blood human beings with real problems. I am sure that they too laid down and wept and wondered about the future, their hearts had doubts and perplexities and I am sure I am not alone weeping in the night. They too sat down at empty tables and hung their heads in despair. But through it all they were faithful and that is the reason they are listed in the honor roll of Hebrews. They are our heroes of faith. We like them struggle and wait for a better day.
There is on the mission fields...a marked tendency to emphasize the first part of Christ’s last command: ‘Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations,’ and to lay little stress upon the last part, ‘teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you…’Then let obedience to that divine command mean what it will, disobedience is sure as God’s eternal word itself to mean—death.”
The winds, waves, seas, thunder, lightning, frowning rocks, roaring breakers--no matter what, my confidence is in God's faithfulness and His supply from his people. It has never failed us for over 40 years on the mission field.
Peter wrote along these lines when he said; do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
We are called according to His purpose and someday if we are faithful we will reign with Him if we are faithful.
I rejoice in the fact that many of you have sent us letters and e mails encouraging us and I know many are giving very sacrificial offerings. Thank you for your encouragement and support. Remember, we always enjoy hearing from you, and don't forget to let us know how we can be praying for you.
