For the last year and a half, I have had the honor of serving as assistant pastor to Bro. Wendell Jellison here in Tennessee. Once in a great while when his daughter Lana and son in law Tim are in service with us, I get the honor of singing bass with them. The following clip is from last Wednesday evening's service. It was taken from a digital camera, so the quality is not what I would like for it to be. You will hear harmony, but my bass is a little hard to pick out.

Great job! I love Southern Gospel. I am trying to get a quartet at my church. Btw, How goes it Brother Flemming?
I am not particularly a SG man, but I do love music so I checked it out anyway. You all sound good and I good hear the bass.

My range is still there, but my vocal quality is not what it once was. My voice is not nearly as smooth. Preaching has taken it's toll on the ol' vocal chords. I use the same techniques preaching as I do singing. I know to sing from the diaphragm, but sometimes when preaching, the exuberance of the moment over-rides the brain!

You just have to remember to breath like a dog pants and you'll be fine.

I remember the first time a teacher instructed me on breathing from the diaphraghm. I asked you mean I sing and breathe at the same time?
