Kenneth Phillips Bishop in UPC?

I was in Austin Texas the last few days on a business trip. In the Saturday June 14 Austin American Statesman newspaper there was a nice article and picture profiling Kenneth and Randy Phillips for Fathers Day.

The article talked about each of them pastoring different Promiseland churches in Austin and was based on a joint interview the reporter did with them at the main Promiseland location.

Of course no newspaper article would be complete without at least one major error and this article was no exception.

Apparently at some point KP or RP must have mentioned Kenneth Phillips prior association with the United Pentecostal Church which when the article got written turned into "I had never interviewed Kenneth Phillips, a bishop in the United Pentecostal Church"

Here is a link to the article and picture;

I don't think anybody has carried more of a burden to reach the world for Christ than Kenneth Phillips.

When I would hear people who didn't know him from Adam accuse him of wanting the spotlight or glory because of him wanting to use TV it would just make me sick. Anybody that really knows him knows that is an absolute lie.

He is not a perfect man as none of us are but his passion for souls is beyond reproach.

He was my pastor for many years so I know first hand.

Yes Sis

I read on their web page last year that they had baptized more or around 18,000 in Jesus name since they had been pastoring there. I thought that it was an awesome testimony for the name of the Lord.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

Re: Kenneth Phillips Bishop in UPC?

Anybody interested in reading the article and seeing the pics probably needs to do so before Saturday. If I remember right I think the newspaper only open archives these things for seven days then it goes to the paid archive section.

Yup. That is what I did. I wish they had a pic of Wanda Phillips. She turned 67 this past Monday and you would never know it looking at her. She looks about 50. KP is 69 and looks about 60. They must have good genetics!!
