No not today, come back tomorrow. No not today either; try again tomorrow. Maybe we can this coming week. These are some of the answers that I received trying to get a simple vaccination shot for my daughter Jasmin. That is how things are here in Brazil. When things take 2 days to complete there in the USA it takes them a week here if not more here in Brazil. Most of the time it is not because of the laziness of the people but it is the corruption of the government that prevents many things from being done. For example: the mayor gives an estimate for a project that needs to be done, when the money comes in it goes directly to his pocket and when people ask why isn’t the project being done he tells them it is because he hasn’t received all the funds yet. This is why Brazil is still a third world country and cannot develop any more than what it is. To the regular worker here it seems like a bottomless well where you work till you drop, get paid very little, and can barely live and support your family. For these people it is as if they have no hope of a better life. There are many churches that preach prosperity and “if you give us all that you have God will bless you with more than you had before!” When people hear about Jesus and that He died on the cross to give us a chance to have a better life, a life that is full of hope, there is a smile that comes across their face. It is so wonderful to show someone a way out of their misery. It is an unexplainable feeling when you know that somehow, someway you have been a part in giving hope to the hopeless as one day someone gave hope to you. I know that it is not we who give hope but we are the tools that the Lord uses. “
Psalms 71:5: For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.” Job had a better life with God and he knew it even through all the things that he passed through. I believe that we need to have the attitude that Job had: “
Job 13:15: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him…” I know that if I trust in Him, He will supply all my needs. I continually pray for all those that let God use them that He would send blessings their way. Please pray for us here on the frontline of the battlefield.
Because of His mercy,
Miss. Chad Thomas
