The Condition of our Hearts....

I was reading a thread where someone admitted to being a backslidden Apostolic and asked for prayer. There have been people that told me they were backslidden when I felt they were not really backslidden but simply just not as on fire as they once thought, and they were using that as a measuring line to judge if they were backslidden or not...I don't mean they were sinning more than normal but they just did not feel like they were as outgoing anymore in soul winning etc etc...

However I was wondering is it possible for someone to be backsliden and NOT realize it? Or at least not admit it? If that is the case what is the condition of their heart? Obviously this can include people that are attending church regularly but have sins they are not repenting from or even acknowledging...

IS that what a reprobate is?

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

A reprobate? A reprobate wouldn't even worry about being backslidden.

Mizpeh in this case I was refering to someone that was not only not worrying but was blind or oblivious to his or her spiritual condition

Yes, I do think its possible to be backslidden and not even realize it. I think people gradually "cool off" to the things in God and their spiritual decline is so gradual they don't even realize it (or won't admit it). Samson didn't know that the Spirit of God had departed from him until it was too late.

I've always thought a reprobate was someone who was once saved but was overcome by sin and was rejected of God. A reprobate wouldn't even be in a church setting. Heb 6:4-8, 2 Peter 2:20-22

Re: The Condition of our Hearts....

Well in this case they were reprobate but still a part of Israel
2Ti 3:8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.

What would you call or say about someone that was in a backslidden condition and not even aware or at least not admitting it?

BTW this person that admitted to being backslidden and asked for prayer....is she really backslidden?
