The UPC, Television and Money

It's possible that I could have missed something, but to my knowledge we have never had a thread that discussed the perceived financial impact of the television resolution passing.

Two questions:

1. Do you think the UPC will reap a huge financial harvest if the resolution passes?

2. Do you think that the loss of churches/ministers will hurt the UPC in a big way if this resolution passes?

LOL!!! May I ask what is the basis of your question number 1????

I don't know anybody who thinks ministering on TV is a "moneymaker" for UPC folks. The only ministries that have made big bucks are ones that were very inclusive of a large number of people and was able to appeal to them .

UPCers on TV would be in conquest mode. They would be challenging many aspects of Christian orthodoxy ranging from dress code to the Trinity. People are not eager to open their wallets to people challenging their beliefs.

On the flip side the opponents of advertising or ministering on TV often misstate the expense of being on TV.

Many churches are in communities with public access cable TV channels that give you free airtime.

TV is not a cure all for evangelism but it is another tool to use in reaching the world with the gospel.

I believe that they will lose church and finances.

I know that there are those who will pull out and others who say they will not support anything. So there will be a lose.

Do you think that the UPC believes they will make money?

Is this why it is being pushed so hard?

Maybe its the latest form of an AS?

Maybe it is a very convenient issue to serve as a stepping-off point?

Maybe there are internal zealots that are wanting to see the tares removed BEFORE the harvest rather than after the harvest?
