Talking Cultural Experience

Tonight I had a wonderful time with a friend and I went to a Texas Rodeo. It was so awesome to see the love of God, country, and state of these Texans. There was a display of The U.S. flag, & the Texas flag. They opened with prayer and a local teenage girl sang the national anthem.

There was horse competiton, steer roping, and bronko riding. There was a game of Rodeo poker...it was so funny. They made fun of all the presidential candidates and the bulls charged Hillary Clinton. There was a funny abotu Obama: The MC siad that the bull reminded him of Obaham - a lot of action at both ends and nothing but a bunch of bull in between

It was my first Texas Cultural experience and it was unique.

Just thought I'd share

Blessings, Rhoni

Re: Cultural Experience

Rhoni,

One of the things I loved about Texas the 16 years I lived there was that it is bigger than life and people in Texas are very proud to be Texans and of their state.

I love living in the Nashville area and I love the beauty of Tennessee but it is not the same as the two other states I have lived in. Alaska and Texas are very special.

You've caused me to wonder- Is Tennessee a compromise between Texas and Alaska? Thinking about the trees and the woods and the climate; the extremes represented by Texas and Alaska.

If you do much work on family trees, you'll see that 2/3's of the folks from Texas came from Tennessee. I think that's why the two states like each other so much. Remember, Davy Crockett and 36 of the men at the Alamo were from Tennessee!!

Sounds like a wonderful time. We could have a rodeo here if we could find bulls and horses with 2 legs longer than the others! Sorry, bad WV joke!
