I thought since we have someone who wants to turn every thread into a healthcare discussion, that he should have his very own thread. Maybe he can get himself into the habit of jumping into this thread to post all his thoughts about healthcare instead of hijacking threads about other subjects.
How did the trucker thread become a healthcare thread? Only on AFF.
I don't know if the idea will work, but I had to give it my best shot.
Here you go Christopher Hall. Your own healthcare thread.

I guess it's not as fun when the subject doesn't get changed.
lets all hold hands and say
"I believe free market capitalism is the best path to prosperity"
that ought to draw Chris off sides.

Sorry guys. The trucker's thread on fuel prices went nuts when we discussed the civic duty of these larger companies. The response was from one individual indicating that the only civic duty of these companies is to make him money via his investments. I then brought health care into the picture, not to discuss health care specifically, but to demonstrate that people die when we neglect our civic duties toward one another's well being. I have insurance. I could easily walk away thankful for mine and look to these massive companies to just bring me profit, profit, profit. But I feel that's too materialistic and clashes with the Christianity I know. Instead I feel the wealthier a body is...the greater their moral responsibility to perform their civic duty to develop the greater good of all society. The health care debate is merely an example of a neglected duty...a neglect that allows nearly 18,000 uninsured Americans to die from otherwise treatable conditions every year. Moral principles are interconnected. The moral principle of righteous civic duty regarding taxation is interrelated to all it would effect. I struggle with compartmentalizing the ethics.
