Someone brought me some reading material about "Water4Gas"....This can't possibly work, can it?
I went to snopes and couldn't find anything.
Here is a site:
http://www.buywater4gas.com
You can google it and find all kind of sites.
I can't imagine this working. Anyone actually bought the kit and tried it?
Most of the sites are "advertisements" for this product. BE CAREFUL.
Here is what I found at wikianswers.com
Does water4gas really work?
In: Fuel and Engines
No and yes. Water injection has been shown to improve gas mileage and performance. Unfortunately it also DESTROYS YOUR ENGINE. It does the good by in effect increasing octane through the water slowing combustion. It does the bad by the fact that water rusts iron. Water injection was used as far back as WW2 on allied fighter planes as a TEMPORARY way to get out of a tight jam.
The hydrogen generating aspect of such a device is trivial, apart from the fact that it takes more energy than it creates to make hydrogen by electolosis.
The idea that you can get an alternate energy credit is sure to get you in TROUBLE WITH THE IRS since the hydrogen is trivial: you are running on gasoline.
Altering an engine control sensor which is part of the emission controls is ILLEGAL under most if not all state laws. Being paid as a mechanic to do this illegal under federal law.
If it becomes popular it will be another important step when buying a used car: make sure it never had a water injection system.
