Chimney Sweep Ornaments and Memorabilia

On another thread someone mentioned collectables.

I collect chimney sweep figurines of all kinds. They are rather rare in the US but they are out there.

If anyone finds any chimney sweep ornaments, figurines or memorabilia at garage sales or otherwise I would love to buy them. If we are talking $10 to $15 then I garrantee I will take them, but i have paid much more depending on the item and how old the article is etc.

SH,
That's very interesting. Could you post pictures of what you are talking about? I have no clue.

I'm just thinking of a huge broom from Mary Poppins.

OK the sweeping brushes and tools... I collect those too - but only if they are antique. Mostly what i collect are carvings, steamers, nutcrackers, and all sorts of figurines. I have collected them from many countries... but basicly, if I don't have it - I'll buy it as I find them available. Here are a few of them.

PS... I am not a preist, a monk or celebate - please call me Steve, Stephen or Hoovie. Thanks!

Re: Chimney Sweep Ornaments and Memorabilia

So i started this thread and a retired chimney sweep found it through a google search... e-mailed me through the hooverhouse website and offered to sell the collection he had. He sent me pictures and we came to an agreement. he packaged them all very nicely and I recieved the big box about two weeks ago.

Sooooo.... here is the funny part!

I was taking each piece out and explaining to my wife what they were and where they were from. there were chimney sweep nutcrackers, steamers and other European chimney sweep collectibles. Then I unwrap a piece that turned out to be a Playboy beer stein! http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel...s/1/PB1820.jpg

Well, I needed no explaining on that one! Just that I did not remember seeing THAT in the pics when I bought them! My chimney sweep friend said he threw it in at the last minute as a joke....

I gotta admit - I was shocked.
