15 year old with possible cancerous mass on ovary

Please pray for my cousin's daughter, Kellsey. Jennifer (my cousin) took her to the doctor today for severe menstrual cramps. They did some tests and found a huge mass on her ovary that is larger than the ovary itself. The doctor told Jennifer that it looks like it could be cancer to him (he did not tell Kellsey this). They are doing surgery tomorrow (Friday) at 3:00. Please pray that it is NOT cancer. Thanks.

This is especially important because Kellsey lost her dad and Jennifer lost her husband just a year ago to colon cancer. So this is extremely frightening to them.

I'll will be praying! I work for an OBGYN doctor. Sometimes it can be an ovarian torsion, which makes the ovary very large and painful. My doctor removed an 8 lb ovary last week on a 17 yo girl. She is doing fine now! Will pray for God's safety!

Buffy, thank you for those encouraging words. I'm praying that it is something simple like this.

Thank you all soooooooooooo much for your prayers. I am happy to report that after surgery this afternoon, the doctor came out with the good news that what he had originally thought looked bad (like cancer) turned out to be "just" a very larger ovarian cyst that was leaking. Kellsey is sore, but doing fine and her mom (Jennifer) is doing the happy dance.

I have a funny to add to this. The doctor then said that he wanted to put Kellsey on a very low dose birth control pill to keep this from happening again and to give her ovaries a chance to rest a while before they have to start functioning again. Kellsey's big brother, Josh, who is 19, immediately piped up and said, "She can go on the pill. But don't tell her it's birth control. Tell her it's ovarian cyst medicine. You don't want to give her any ideas, you know!" I think that's so funny - so "big brotherish"!!
