Building Faith Or Emotions ?
Sometimes in Spirit Filled churches ,it seems like ministries and ministers try to build up people's emotions rather than their personal faith in Christ.
But wouldn't it be correct to help people get built up in their faith in Christ rather than their emotions, because emotions will betray us but our personal faith in Christ will keep us in times of distress.
Should Christian churches help to build people's personal faith in Christ or build up their emotions ?

Re: Building Faith Or Emotions ?
When I base my faith on the Creator of the universe choosing to put His Spirit inside of me and forgiving me of all my sins, excuse me if I get a little emotional, If I can scream for my football team--I do--then get outta my way when it comes to my Savior, and NOBODY needs to build it up for me!!!!!!!

Re: Building Faith Or Emotions ?
Please don't think I'm agains't displaying as I'm all for shouting, dancing, praising in church but I believe when our feet hit the ground we need to know what we are jumping for.
But we walk by faith, as our emotions can betray us as sometimes we don't have the emotions ,but having a strong faith in The One True God will carry us a long ways.

Re: Building Faith Or Emotions ?
Emotions can rise and fall on any wind or whim. Emotions will not sustain any person through a trial by itself. Emotions can help keep a person uplifted which helps to defeat the trial. Churches should teach saints the basis for their beliefs, back the teaching up with scripture, and then show them the works of the spirit in the church. This builds faith that will create the emotion that will carry them through a trial.

Re: Building Faith Or Emotions ?
Let me explain what I'm trying to convey, one time I was in a church and the pastor was a wonderful Christian brother but in that service He said if anybody wants to get something from the Lord in this service they need to get out of their pew.
If anybody gets something from The Lord in a service,it will be because they reached to God in faith, not wheter they are in a pew or in the front near the altar, their faith level determines what one receives from God in my opinion.

Re: Building Faith Or Emotions ?
Sometimes the emotion that sustains you is not an exuberant, happy, dancing one but a deep heart felt love for Christ and his truth that has been instilled by the teaching of the Church.

First and foremost, yes, a persons personal faith should be the first prioity of the church and/or ministry. Through sound, Bible based teaching, our personal faith in Christ in girded up so to speak. Also, a continual prayer life builds our faith: Jud 1:20 ¶ But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
However, sometimes, as we go through life, we tend to get a little "emotionally dormant". Our prayer life, our Bible study, even our joy becomes mundane and repetitive unless we are given an "emotional charge" from time to time. Thats where a balance is needed. Churches and/or ministries that tend to appeal to peoples emotions too much tends to have "shallow" Christians who aren't deeply rooted in the Word.Their diet consiste of the "milk of the Word". But those whose faith is made strong through a steady diet of "meaty" teaching and preaching is more solid and can weather the storms of life more consistently.

Re: Building Faith Or Emotions ?
Here is thing when one is married they might not always feel married but if they are married they are married just the same ,sometimes we just don't feel good but our emotions can betray us,sometimes we might not always feel saved ,but we walk by faith and not by sight.
Our intellilect can betray us too,and some groups play on intellilect rather than emotionalism but we can't figure God out ,and we can't always understand things if we could then what would we need faith in Christ for ?

I would. If I were a teacher. I'm just a student. And what about yourself, Brother? You have an incredible way of saying with just a few words things that it takes me forever to say- and then, I don't always say it right.
Hey, brother, you got another reason to come north... we can go over to Florence to meet SE!
