Thumbs up Church Growth resources

I love church growth. I have spent years learning church growth methods (mostly outside the apostolic ranks). I would like for any fellow soul winners to talk here about various resources they use and like.

I am heavy into the Purpose Driven model for assimilation. I love anything by Nelson Searcy and Mark Driscoll. And I think I have bought nearly every modern book on church growth and retention on Amazon.com

Here is a GREAT resource for those who like good solid training

I can now see why you got booted off the other site, by the way I like Mark Driscoll and I like Rick Warren.

Re: Church Growth resources

Theres really not much church growth stuff in the UPC right now. It seems like alot has by-passed them. I don't really even see alot of their churches doing the old school stuff like Home Bible Studies SFT2 and Exploring Gods Word.

Re: Church Growth resources

I would like to see a good Bible study that covers good history as salvational as well in half the time as Ex. Gods W.

Getting ready to read Purpose Driven Church. I know I'm slow.

Are they offering any new resources thru the new evangelism/growth push in the UPCI. I can't remember what they are calling it

Re: Church Growth resources

I've actually had a burden to develop a more modern type of bible study. it is 3, 3 week studies.

Finding Spirituality
1. Your guilt under the law, the penalty, and why Christ Paid it
2. Turning your life around, being baptized, opening up to the Spirit
3. Receiving the Spirit and using the Gifts of the Spirit

Growing in Spirituality
1. How to read the scriptures and basic hermunetics
2. The christian disciplines like fasting / prayer / charity
3. Learning how to work through sinful habits left from pre-conversion

Sharing your Spirituality
1. You get to pick who you spend the next trillion years with
2. How to share your faith and testimony
3. How to lead them to their next steps

I've been outlining this for a few months now in my head and on paper. My idea was to make it freeware and make it so anyone can reproduce it. I've used nearly every 1, 2, and 10-12 step study out there. Even the bigger teachers like Don Lusk from Pontiac, MI skip the OT half and dive right into the NT.

I think he takes a straw man and beats it thoroughly. Its way too broad a brush. Your talking about thousands and thousands of churches in his wide sweep.

Re: Church Growth resources

Church Growth is really an interesting thing to evaluate. But, there cannot be a particular reason that impacts the growth of church. Different people may have different reason to attend the services or follow a church. To evaluate these factors, is of utmost importance if the growth is concerned and the manner in which the evaluation is conducted also matters.
