My husband is buying a new boat and I told him that I want a handgun for Valentine's Day.
After promising NOT to shoot him when I was angry at him he has agreed. Actually, I told him that if I haven't shot him after 20 years then he's pretty well safe on that issue.
He said he'd rather have a pump action rifle. I used to own a .357 Magnum, but sold it. Wish I would have kept it.
Which would you rather have and if you have/had your choice, which brand, model, etc. would you prefer?

Well now smarty-pants (oooh! I called you a name) I can't answer your original question - that's right, you asked me a question - unless I know what mission you intend this gun to fulfill.
I have several guns, and they are mostly all for different things.
For example: A .22 or a traditional shotgun is for hunting small game
A large magnum revolver or a rifled slug barrel shotgun is for hunting deer
A high-powered small caliber rifle is for hunting varmints
A high powered large caliber rifle is for elk, moose, buffalo, lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!
Just about any gun can be considered something fun to shoot with, but the bigger the bang, the more expensive the hobby.
And last but not least, moderate-sized handguns in the middle and upper ranges of cartridge power are for personal protection.
A .357 can be had in a wide variety of sizes and barrel lengths, such that you could get a 2-shot derringer or a 5-shot snub-nosed revolver that isn't fit for shooting at anything more than six feet away, or you can get one with an 8-inch barrel and go hunting for deer or feral hogs.

I reported you to Admin for calling me a name!!!!
I'm thinking that I want a semi-automatic handgun. I like the Beretta guns, but I also like Smith and Wesson.
Can't tell you why I would like to have a handgun. I'm using a .22 for things I need - like shooting snakes and stuff - looks around to see if HO is on line.
