I have heard it state that if God is against Divorce, Multiple wives, Other Idols,
Harlotry, why did God "seemingly" allow this in the Old Testament?
Here is my take.
God put Adam & Eve into the Garden, they were innocent. They sinned, their Conscience was awakened, but they had no power to defeat sin.
Cain killed Abel, Cain wasn't struck down by God because one, he didn't have a law to tell him it's wrong, two, God wanted to perpetuate the human race,
three.... I'll get to that later.
God gets angry with human race-whossh, wiped out the planet save Noah and family.
Noah get's drunk and lies naked in tent. same scenario as in Adam & Eve plays out cept no killing.
Abraham marrries half sister, tells fibs about their relationship.
Jacob is a coniver, and deceiver. His wife has idols, God blesses, and doesn't wipe them out.
Jacob goes to bed with what he thinks is a harlot (bad) then it turns out is his daughter in law (even worse) God turns him into Israel.
Moses Murders, runs away, and he is chosen deliverer of Israel?
Law is given by Moses then the people understand what God requires of Mankind. Unfortunately, man can not live up to it.
Christ comes then clarifies that without the Saviour-man is toast-burnt at that!
He clarifies that Muder is wrong, but if you have hatred in your heart you are a murderer. Audultery is wrong, but if you look on a woman to lust-you are guilty.
Paul speaking under the annointing of the Holy Ghost says that to hold an office of a Deacon he must be the Husband of one wife.
What changed? God didn't.
Moses Murders, runs away, and he is chosen deliverer of Israel?
Mar 10:2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
Mar 10:3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
Mar 10:4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
Mar 10:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
Mar 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
Mar 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
Mar 10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
Mar 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
All of mans dealings up to this point can be summed up in this verse--
Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Acts 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Just because God let things go becasuse man was ignorant and guilty of a hard heart doesn't mean he sanctioned their sin.
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
