Ministers-An Interesting Statistic

I heard an interesting Statistic this weekend.
There are approximately 9,000 licensed Ministers with the UPCI in North America.
About 600 of them are below the age of 30!!

The median age is 43. That is my age (though I am not licensed) and I wonder why that is?

Isn't God calling anymore?

Included in our message is yesterday was this, the nmost important thing one can do in the kingdom is to serve.

Have we lost are ability to serve?

when I was coming up in the youth...there were soo many young men wanting to be a minister/preacher....

in my church, there hasn't been ONE young person in the last 12 years that had the desire to preach.... sad!!! and they sit under one of the best preachers ever......

Just because a particular organisation doesn't have a ton of young people clamoring for a pulpit doesn't mean God isn't calling people.

Since when did God decide to limit his call to teenagers barely out of diapers anyway?

How old were the apostles when they were called?

Jesus Himself did not begin to preach until He was about 30 years old - and He was considered a "whippersnapper" by the folks in His day...

This was the last statistical breakdown I had as of '06 ... on the ages ...

Here is the breakdown:

Teens 1

20’s 604

30’s 1725

40’s 2331

50’s 2105

60’s 1179

70’s 763

80’s 321

90’s 54

100’s 3

The current average ages is 48.

The single largest group are 40-year-olds.

The second largest are the 50-year-olds.

The third largest are the 30-year-olds.

We have more in their 30’s than in their 60’s (1725 to 1179).

We have more in their 40’s than in their 50’s (2331 to 2105).

Almost as many in their 20’s as in their 70’s (604 to 763).

The most interesting statistic to me:

Percent 39 or below: 26%

Percent 60 or above: 26%

You cited UPCI stats..wonder what the other orgs are experiencing in this particular area? I notice on the ALJC Evangelists site, there are very few full time- and they are middle aged, it looks like.

Interesting...

Fair enough.

Why do you think there is a discrepancy in the ages?

Of those in their 20's and possibly 30's what is the ratio of preachers kids or son-in-laws ... I'm sure it's an inordinate number.

Hence, my question.

Why is that?
