The Moving Of The Spirit At Church

What do you classify as a move of the Spirit? What does it look like? Is there any biblical examples of what you see as the moving of the Holy Ghost at church?

I believe it is a term we describe as being yielded to the Spirit of God moving in us.

As His ways and thoughts are higher than ours, we have to empty ourselves often in prayer so that we won't be encumbered about with burdens, distractions and just plain not yielding to our own plans and desires during a church service.

As we are experienced in working with people we often think we know what they need, but we don't always know. Elijah didn't know everything.

Just the wrong word or action while ministering to people in the altar can make the difference.

For instance, a woman was praying at the front of the church. I felt to stand a little to the side of her and pray. I didn't feel to tell her anything, but to be a source of strength so that she could press forward in the Spirit, which did happen.

Aside from ministering to others. we are moved on my His Spirit in different manners and ways as we worship - dancing, extended hands, etc. We can't categorize every person. We have to allow people to yield as they feel led. Don't expect every person in your congregation to jump or run, etc. Every person is unique and I find that how they worship Him at home is how they will do that at church.

I would say that I feel it rather than see it. I have seen the reaction of people when the move of the Spirit swept in like a "wind". I think biblically, I have felt exactly what was felt on the day of Pentecost... I have felt it move across the congregation....and it is always an awesome experience.

Sometimes it's not like a rushing mighty wind. Sometimes His peace is felt when we just stand still and know that He is God.

The best moves of God on my life were always in my car. I can remember a few times where the presence of God came over me and healed/refreshed me and I wasn't even praying or praising.

But usually God's spirit will move on me while praising Him. That is why I think God moves so much during a church service.... you have many people praising Him and He is drawn to that.
