Are you happy in your calling?
I was thinking today how tired I am but how happy I am as a missionary. Was wondering if you folks are all happy in your calling or do you wish God had placed you somewhere else in life?

Last Friday Night:
I saw him sitting on the platform, his wife was up reading the Bible verse for the opening of the service. I just stood there for a moment and looked at such a sweet couple…my mind went back some 27 years ago when Meiry and her sister first appeared at one of our services…Their mother was according to the doctor dying with cancer. In fact the doctors sent her home to die but someone had given them a tract telling of the healing power of God with our church address.
They were devout Catholics and Meiry’s husband was a prominent witchdoctor…Later we would find out that he promoted all kinds of hideous rituals and much later our lives would be threatened by him.
Meiry’s mother was instantly healed of cancer and in time we baptized her and her two daughters in the precious name of Jesus. Meiry’s husband, Luiz became furious but through a divine intervention God brought him to our church and Jesus gave him the Holy Ghost. He called us over to his home and showed us the knife he carried to his meetings to kill animals and had promised to kill us…OH what a difference the presence of the Lord meant in his life.
Now many years later…last Friday night we walked into a church where they were…Oh the smiles, the hugs the tears of joy.
I am glad He chose me to be a missionary.

Currently my main ministrial focus is Prison Ministry. Yes it can be tiring, but i look forward to service because of what the Lord is doing and how he is moving and changing lives, mine included.
My secondary focus is Childrens ministry and that just plain keeps you young...or at times let's you know your real age.
I work a full time secular job, often more than 40 hours a week, but I wouldn't have it any different at this point. But, I'll accept any change the Lord directs into my life.

I actually was thinking of this just a couple of days ago. I had been reflecting on the past several years and where I am today. Things I had always dreamed of when I was younger, are no longer my dreams. Several years ago that very thought broke my heart. When one has no dreams or hopes, life leaves you pretty desolate. But then God made some changes in our lives and we made a move and we ended right smack dab in the will of God. I still don't have those dreams of my younger years, but the difference is, now my hopes and dreams are in God's hands. I have realized that when I am in God's will, that is where I am the happiest. So yes, I am happy. Life is not where I would have pictured myself to be, but I couldn't picture it anyway else!
Make sense to anyone? not me! lol

I can relate to what you are saying I think. Years ago I dreamed of being "in the ministry" a certain way. When I married Keith and through our of times of ministry together it has not one time ever looked like my dreams.
I love ministry,I love being with Gods people and sharing the hope of the gospel with those who dont know Him. But as far as being "happy" in our ministry. I guess the most happy I am is when we are traveling over seas or invited to minister. Other than that is been up and down.

My husband has been in the ministry for many years. But it's been only since we stepped out of a comfort zone and actually began to do a work for God that we've been more satisfied. When you can actually see where you are helping others, it makes such a difference. I thought I would be in a totally different place than where I am now. But there is no way I could change it if I had the option to do it over. As long as I am helping make a difference somewhere, then I am content. When we feel as though we are spinning our wheels, that has to be the most frustrating times....

Yes, Mother, I am...I know what God has called me to do, and by His grace I am doing it.
I often feel so inept in this place of service, but it is He who works and speaks...to God be the glory!!

Sis. Alvear,
i am VERY happy in my calling! I am just not happy with the opportunity I have to be used in my calling. Because of past mistakes from nearly 30 years ago men will not use me. I would love to be used in my calling more but that has not happened. Se la vie!
