One day in my life

We arrived in the forgotten village of Barro Branco…they were waiting for us outside their little mud hovel…they were all smiles …”it seemed like you all would never get here they said…”
Strange how just a few months ago they were pagan worshippers and had never had their hearts turned toward the heavenly things. Now on this trip we were bringing the leader of the clan a Bible and a songbook that he had asked for. As we were unloading the guitar and things we had brought for them one of the ladies said to my daughter in laws and me, ‘Follow me’…we followed her to a little hut next door and were not quite prepared for the scene. The lady had been 4 months or so expecting and sitting with a towel wrapped around her and blood and body parts of a tiny infant partly in the floor and in a pan… we knew she had just had a miscarriage…so we held her hand and begin to pray and softly sang some songs…hours before they had used the only phone in the village to ask for help from the jungle city of Barro da Corda. (almost an hour away and never knowing when and if help will come) we must have looked like angels to them… Their little village does not even medical post of a nurse let alone a doctor…they must depend on goodwill of outside help. We stayed with her until help arrived but it was not a doctor they sent but at least someone came to take her to the nearest city…We assured her we would be praying…She didn’t seem to want to let go of my hand she kept saying over and over to me, “I am going to be a Christian.”
Since this area does not have running water things are not exactly clean so we only hoped all was well…we walked back to the house where we were visiting since they had prepared a meal for us. ( we tried not to even think about what we had just seen) Of course we had brought some things with us to help out for these people are very poor. They were so happy we would eat their food…I just take my hot sauce with me so to me it all tastes alike! Actually it was good. The men of the village had killed a deer and they had cooked it. Not really our American style but the last time I was up there I had told them if they killed one I would eat it with them, It please them so much to feed us.
The men of the house said they would go with us to see how the jungle church work was coming along…I tell you the road if it can be called that was almost impassable but we made it. Several times Brother Alvear had to stop back up and try again but we made it…poor car…I felt sorry for that little motor. Some decided they would go further down the trail it required a lot of walking so the folks thought brother Alvear and I should wait while they went further down the trail.
That gave us a time to pray for these jungle people and for the service we would have that night in their little village. It was 114 degrees ever so hot. I begin to sing sitting on a log watching for snakes and spiders…”I claim the blood that Jesus shed on Calvary those precious blood stains…”.( I have a source of strength when I am weak, that takes me through when life is pressing me, I have a source of power from above, I'm covered over by a sheild of love.

2. I do not know how others make it through, who do not go to Calvary as I do, for theres a healing, cleansing stream that flows, with peace that only His redeemed can know.

Chorus: I claim the blood Jesus shed on Calvary, those precious blood stains were made there just for me, for all my sin, my sickness and my pain, when I need healing, I claim those precious blood stains.)

It was also for a people like this that Jesus came…the forgotten, the despised the dirty, the uneducated. They too are of great importance to God. Maybe they are even nearer His heart for they have no one to love them but God and his messengers. We understand more about redemption when we gaze at lost humanity and see them come to know the Creator.

Marcela brought me back from my thoughts asking me if once again would I leave all and follow…My answer was yes…I am ready to start all over in another area if needed or help others go. Telling the story of Jesus is the most important thing in my life. I love Him and long to make Him known.
Brother Arlei and sister Gilene are facing unbelievable poverty and hardships but they are positive God has called them to these backlands of Brazil. The call of God is hard to explain in words but easy understood when you see it lived out.
Everything looked so crude and far behind in time yet I loved it…the people, their hospitality, their hunger for God even taking a bath with a glass of water in their village and taking a bath in the Corda river with all it’s amazing creatures.
Anything you could do to help the jungle work would be deeply appreciated with your help we have seen a miracle unfold already…as the moon so distant pulls the tide please help us in your prayers and giving pull these lost souls from paganism.

Today starts another day with new opportunities...

Wow it almost makes me feel guilty that WE over here live such "privileged" lives, and they with so little virtually nothing (as we might see it), can consider that hearing THE WORD is their finest "privilege" even "luxury"., oh that we would have that purest of thirst for HIM.
Even THEY know that the cleansing healing WORD can bring refreshment to souls parched by the dry pure evil of paganism. GOD BLESS YOU all!

Sister be careful that high of heat or humidity can wreak havoc on your blood pressure, and health in general;I am praying for you!
