I think it's time to leave this thread. I have heard very few things in life as ridiculous as what is being expressed here today.

As Felicity and others have pointed out, a person can become proud of anything. I'm convinced that it's possbile for folks to become proud to the point of arrogance and a haughty spirit over their doctrinal position. It's certainly in evidence on this forum! So why single out a ring or a watch? God resists the proud no matter what the source of that pride might be.

It seems that faith means nothing, and the Holy Spirit means nothing to some folks on AFF. It's like you live on the edge of being lost continually. I'm sorry. but that's not my salvation experience and I can't relate to where you guys come from.

Which verse is that that you are refering to that his beauty including his jewels Corrupted him? Using that logic all beautiful people are corrupted and all the other angels must be ugly

These outward apparel standards threads are amazingly popular, must be the major focus in many, many places. Thanks for a voice of Godly wisdom. Surely, we can move on to deeper and more significant things of God.

Ezk. 28 says he was lifted up with pride because of his beauty and part of that beauty was jewels. Read it and weep.

How about changing the question and ask it like this....why do preachers think they have a right to allow or disallow the wearing of wedding rings and let them do what there convictions dictate.

The whole pastor "allowing" thing just makes me cringe!

I'm puzzled?

The wedding ring protection myth sounds a lot like the majical hair myth to me.

To me it's not about protection. Protection might be a consideration in the possibility that someone may think twice about propositioning or "coming onto" somebody if they can see a ring on the third finger of the left hand.

It's about identification and symbolism.

Unless your argument is that beauty leads to corruption and therefore everyone that is not butt ugly is corrupted and lost like Lucifer, I don't know why you would say "read it and weep"...if this is an argument against jewelry then it's also an argument against beauty.

Second, what verse exactly? Im trying to find the one that shows Lucifer was a jewelry wearing angel...the Mr T of angels as it were

The text also says
Eze 28:5 By your great wisdom and by your trade you have multiplied your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches.

So using your logic here we can extrapolate that one needs to be as dumb as a door knob to be saved too

And not also be a business man....btw does anyone think it odd that an Angel in heaven, before falling had a trade where by he got rich?

Here in LA, wearing a wedding ring is often a reason to be hit on. I am guessing it is because you are considered "safe" in regards to disease or something. I have never firured this one out.
