I don't think Nature determines either

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

Re: Hair and Nature?
Prax, can you provide the commentary that got you discussing this issue in the first place?

Re: Hair and Nature?
"If it's short on a man, it's short on a woman and if it's long on a man it's long on a woman."
hmm. i don't like this, but i'm not sure why. ;lol
i have what some of you would term 'short' hair. i'm like Nordic blonde, thin fine hair, currently almost two inches long. it has totally died, no body, since it has thinned out more with age (ty God, that i still have hair; very much), and it now has thin flips and whatnot in it, a totally flat area around the part from the length, etc. when i go get an inch cut off, it will pop back out, and i will no longer look like a wino. do i have short or long hair? short, most would say; but short hair on a woman might be 2 inches above her shoulders.
"Like many things in scripture, it would be great if the passage was more specific."
wadr, this misses the point of Scripture imo, which is to provide a mirror; your carry-out to a logical conclusion proves this, i think. It is not specific in Scripture because the Holy Spirit does not care how long your hair is per se, but is affected by an affectation of hair; how much one might be fixated upon it in others, or in themselves, their own hair, imo. we even have Scripture condemning of long hair on women, forget the key words at the moment, but the women who had elaborate hairstyles (as in 8-12 hours to get done); meaning is this person really seeking Christ, which would be reflected by giving no thought to ________, or more interested in impressing others with their over-the-top new object, and seeking to have the attention. maybe.

Nature--
Original Word: φύω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: phuó
Phonetic Spelling: (foo'-o)
Short Definition: I grow, grow up
Definition: I grow, grow up, spring up.
Word Origin
a prim. verb
Definition
to bring forth, produce
NASB Translation
grew (2), springing (1).
So, the way ones hair grows or "springs forth" (and i swear i didn't read this before my last post) should teach us about hair length. i got lucky, most likely; it just makes sense that i should not have hair anywhere near my shoulders, even younger, i tried, because it looks bad. some other mideastern or italian guy might get away with shoulder length hair; and then there is weird al and have you ever seen that guy with the ultra long, straight brown or blonde hair? how weird is that? but a guy with black hair, a native american, perhaps? might get away with hair down to his crack.
what do you think?

I think it's subjective.
I've found that men who let their hair grow long (whatever long is) never 'fixes' it, it's long and it's flowing freely. On the other hand, women with long hair (whatever long is) will many times style their hair so that it's really no longer, in appearance, than women who have shorter (whatever shorter is) hair. For example, both women will expose the neck in their hair styles. So, what's the difference between the woman who has longish (whatever longish is) hair that is above the shoulders and the woman who styles her hair, though it be longer (whatever long is) so that it's appearance is the same as the woman with the shorter hair?
Here's a couple of examples, one with hair longer than the other but visually about the same.
In my subjective view, the woman's hair in the top image is more appealing. Is that nature telling me, instructing me, or is that just visually a personal preference? And would the bottom hair length be long on a man?
Back to the question of how short is short and how long is long. Or maybe the question should be what is short and what is long?
