Nice...somehow I expected better from you, Bro. A...
sorry sis, way back when Nikita Khrushchev said to us "We will bury you, and never fire a shot" It has happened.
I spent a decent portion of my youth and strength on board a US Navy submarine during th cold war because I believe in the United States, it's constitution and it's ideal of individual liberty and freedom, and I felt that worth defending with my life. I saw communism as a grave threat to that ideal.
Every time I see Obama's face or hear his name I feel angry, betrayed, and I seriously want to hit something. hard.
Today, I might fight to defend my home, my family, ny friends, but I wouldn't wield a good stream of urine to defend the "Obamanation"
I have tried to give him every benefit of doubt... it aint working.
It was a good speech though...

If it makes you feel better, but you and Stew are wrong.
You can listen to Laura's exact words on the clip at this link, starting around the 4:20 mark:
I'm finished with the conversation since, apparently, people are not paying close attention to detail.
PO, I know that you are rankled , but you cannot be serious. Is your evidence as to when people objected simply what the former first lady said she thinks? I'm telling you the specific objections I heard. They were before people had even seen or heard the lesson plan and they were simply responding to the "socialist act of this dictator talking to and indoctrinating our children behind closed doors".

Stew,
I said that I wouldn't participate on this thread any longer, but I will for you.
I am rankled because it's been very frustrating to watch the main issue of the guidelines/lesson plan being overlooked as the major issue, all the while, being clouded by the one you are calling the main issue, ie, "socialist act of this dictator talking to and indoctrinating our children behind closed doors".
The guidelines/lesson plan are what spurred the controversy of a "socialistic indoctrination". Is Laura Bush lying or does she, in fact, know that the plans were made available in advance? Of course they were made available in advance. They had to have been made available in order to implement them for the day of the speech. A no-brainer.
If you want another source - This article, below, is bearing out that the lesson plans were released BEFORE the speech. If that was NOT the case, then why would the Administration feel the need to be forced to release the text in advance and say that they were going to REVISE the language in the lesson plan? It's a no-brainer, Stew.
Quote:
The White House responded Thursday to criticism of President Barack Obama's planned speech to schoolchildren, saying it would release the text in advance and would revise language in a suggested lesson plan to accompany it.
I honestly wish more of the media was like factcheck. So much of what we hear from most outlets has so much spin and agenda that it's almost insulting.
